You, hiding from challenging Somalis? I don't believe it! You've gone soft, Ayeeyo, xaafadeena ku soo noqo..

Maxaad uga dhuumanaysa? Go to them and demand sababta ay suuqa kuugu jiraaan, you can then use gaariyes words against them.
-
Ng, The qaaraan collector is retired and out of town and I doubt the rest know you, so you can relax lol

I'm not sure, hon @Juxa. I do really want to go but have so much editing to do this and next week.. *tears*

It's actually not that bad (best representation Somali women had so far) and it's most certainly not the end, judging from news conferences these ladies mean business and will be making history, I'A.

LooooL. Xarakaadkeedaan ka helay, laakin dhuuni ma'ihi. Heesta sare waa macaan, si yar ayay ugu sheegtay. Waxaa ka darnayd Ikraan Caraale iyo 'Love, Love, Love' and Nasteexo which was cold.

^Indeed. Waan u 'secularise' gareeyay.

BTW.. here is a brilliant resource for translated poems and by Gaariye and other poets... is she milk, is she more, is she buttermilk? Is she bread, is she bread and milk, is she? Would you say she's good luck? Would you say She's a riddle, or maybe the answer? Is she kindness or thought when it's solemn? Is she thought, is she more - an idea? I dunno, ask Nuune...

LoooL@allow begging. I think your friend told me about your Burcawi connection but I thought it was to excuse your crude ways.

There's a Ha idhaafin maqaaxi somewhere in London, sadly it's a faarax indhodheer joint so intaan wadada jaro ayaan xuf ku dhaafi jiraay....

We don't have to be beggars, Ayeeyo. -
Not sure if I could make it Ibts. but will spread the word.

Blackflash.. Errr. why would you assume that my lack of interest is based on an assumption? Yaab badanaa.. LOL. Apophis, my personal take is up there, let me know which points you want expansion on.

^The above post is intended to expand on my previous comments for someone who has objected to my last post in private. I'm not interested in debating my faith with people who don't believe because you're not interested in my Islamic perspective and I'm not interested in yours, so there is no point in going around in circles and disrespecting each other, is there?

True, I recently went to an event where the poet Abdullahi Bootaan has read a hilarious poem on the tube, when I searched for it online. I found this (page 11), the English version is just st*pid. I have read some decent translations of other poems but it's not like the real thing.

I suppose, mostly because their works are inaccesible. Gaariye has been translating his work and presenting it to the youth and those of us who grew up in the diaspora, I wish more poets follow suit. I absolutely love Somali poetry, the intellect of our people is most apparent in literature.

I agree, some of them deliver but the majority are useless. There needs to be more accountability to the public on their part for starters and a long term strategy for our country to be self-reliant. -
Illahay ha us sahlo. I hope he gets better soon, would love to attend the event.

LOL Jb, qalad baad tahay.

^80% of their funds benefits NGOs and their workers. Their very existence is dependent on our people remaining needy / poor.
