  1. Quoted by
    Libaax-Sankataabte,

    Mr Oodweyne, Horn Afrique, Samurai and Bari Nomad always post news articles and analysis as they are reported by the media. These articles about corruption in the goverment, military campaigns, etc, actually encourage real political debate while at the same time informing the nomads about the issues back home. I actually find these articles to be very refreshing and entertaining at times.

    The point that Rahima was making (correct me if I’m wrong) is that these nomads post positive articles about their region & negative articles about other regions.

    I have never seen a negative article posted by someone from the same region. Now this would have showed that this person want to encourage debate & get ideas from other fellow nomads as to how to improve the situation.

    However we see these characters posting negative articles about other regions and like children saying “naanananaah” and expressing happiness about the downfall of their brethren, how sad indeed. Is this a political debate? One that I wish to refrain myself from, since all I read about here is hate and animosity.

    Lets take the politics in the west: Are people who come from the same city/region as Tony Blair less critical of his policies as others??? They are equally if not more critical to his policies then people from other regions. While we have nomads here supporting warlords when they should be condemning them because they belong to the same qabiil as the warlord and praise him.

    So the nomads here can sugar coat their reasons behind posting the negativities about other regions, but its very clear from their postings what their intentions are, which is to laugh at the misery of thier OWN people living in another region.

    I leave you with this quote: "Few men have the natural strength to honour a friend's success without envy." Aeschylus

    PS: I must have taken the same pill as some of the Politics Forum members take, by writing long analyzes. :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

  2. Few pieces of headwear prompt such controversy.

    Some of the comments;

    It's not about a scarf. It's about what it represents - oppression. Many women are forced to wear these by Muslim men, who themselves wear whatever they want. If Christianity did the same, all women would be forced to dress as nuns.

    Paul King, Belgium

    Thanks to Paul King of Belgium. I didn't realize that Catholic nuns (including my elementary school teachers) were also perhaps 'oppressed' and may have been 'forced' by some conniving fathers and brothers to put their headscarves on. Shouldn't we now start talking about banning use of headscarves by all nuns and liberate them out of their oppression while we are talking about liberating Muslim women who choose to put head scarves on?

  5. Some quotes from the article;

    .....often the first time even a daughter sees her mother’s face is after the mother’s death.

    Saud Al-Otaibi also found his wife fiercely loyal to the custom. I tried to blackmail my wife by saying I’d marry another woman if she didn’t show me her face, he said.

    But he was in for a surprise. “Instead of giving in” she said, all right, marries someone else. And she set me up with a friend of hers who wasn’t so strict in her adherence to the custom, and I married her.

    “This has nothing to do with Islam,” he said. “It’s simply one of the traditions that some tribes follow.

    “In Islam, a husband can, of course, see the whole of his wife’s body. The face is the least he’s entitled to,” he said.

  6. AlwaysLearning, Always in a transit state (as MOW observed b4)....u truly failed 2 comprehend the point of this topic...Did u even bother 2 read the article??

    Allow me 2 break it down 4 u sis,

    There's a difference between denouncing ur own nationality in order 2 take on another...which what the Kenyan did.

    And taking another nationality on top of urs...which is the case for Somalis who r British or US citizens....which means no one sold out.

    So b4 u think ur cleverly pointing out what u think others have missed take good care of ur reading comprehension.

    September 23 2003: (Niagara Falls Reporter) "Without exaggeration, George W. Bush, light blue tie, silly smirk and all, is the worst president this nation has ever had." -- Jack Lessenberry, Detroit Metro Times columnist.

    ...

    ...

    Seth Porges, in the newspaper trade magazine "Editor & Publisher," did some telling research and wrote, "Of America's 12 highest circulation daily papers, only the LA Times, Chicago Tribune and Dallas Morning News ran anything about it on the front page. In The New York Times, the story was relegated to page 22. USA Today: page 16. The Houston Chronicle: page 3. The San Francisco Chronicle: page 14. The Washington Post: page 18. Newsday: page 41. The New York Daily News: page 14.

    "The New York Post and The Wall Street Journal didn't even mention it at all."

  8. Bari thx 4 the links.

    Check this link out; US plans to attack seven Muslim states

    Clark claims he met a senior military officer in Washington in November 2001 who told him the Bush administration was planning to attack Iraq first before taking action against Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran,
    Somalia
    and Sudan.

    “But neither Hezbollah [sic] nor Hamas were targeting Americans,” he writes. “Why not build international power against Al Qaeda?”

    Instead, Clark points the finger at what he calls “the real sources of terrorists - US allies in the region like Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia”.

    Clark blames Egypt’s “repressive policies”, Pakistan’s “corruption and poverty, as well as Saudi Arabia’s “radical ideology and direct funding” for creating a pool of angry young men who became “terrorists”.

    Many political observers have portrayed Clark as an anti-war candidate whose own war record – he was decorated after being shot and wounded while serving in Vietnam – means he cannot be accused of lacking courage or patriotism.

  9. ^^ ^^ u might never know who hit u when that broom stick lands on ur head if u dont stop the bullying. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

  11. Bachlor, b4 I answer ur Q...allow me 2 share with u this...have u heard the British sports commentators when their talking about some1 who gained British citizenship either through his profession or cuz he came 2 Britain when he was young??

    I use 2 listen 2 how they use 2 address John Barns (former Liverpool & England player) & a White South African runner (4got her name) who obtained the British nationality through her profession. When s/he was performing well they would give them all these compliments & shout patriotic slogans, yet when they were not doing well it was like "... Jamaican/South African born lost the race..." something of that sort.

    Now that's Britain with all their freedom & liberty...now 2 come back 2 Kenyans....I think he will loose both sides more like “dacawadii katagtay keeda ee kii nabiga gaadhiwayday”....Qatar will love him as long as he performs well & will dumb him as soon as he falls....No human rights there so they will strip the nationality from him...then imagine he comes back 2 his country....what a shame he will feel...every1 will look down on him as he sold out not only his nationality but his race 2.

    So do u need me 2 tell u what my answer would be??

    Socraties, Hugs & Kisses??? I'm Somali lady, we don't exchange any of that sort with the opposite sex. Have u been brain washed by western values? I think you should attend Nin-Yaaban's daqan classes that should be starting in the new semester. Has any1 seen him lately by the way? I'm worried for him. :confused: :confused:

    Here's my piece:

    As a whole I didn’t find your comments offensive. On the contrary your comments were helpful to know what young Somali men think is the acceptable age for their prospective wives and why. :cool:

    I just want to know why are you guys so threatened by intelligent, educated ladies? Don’t you think that you should be looking for these types of ladies to have a well rounded children who feel secure at home and outside? How many of you think of the type of children you want to have before you think of the lady you want to marry? Or is it that this never crosses your brains. How many of you think that far ahead in the future? :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

    The only comment that should be withdrawn is rudy’s offer of his sister to Socraties.

    Socraties wrote;

    I, personally prefer a younger, firmer and shorter woman than I. It's what I like. and yeah!
    with enormous booty.

    and rudy wrote;

    Socrates

    i exactly the one u need! my sista. she 17 has all you qualities, so hommey get the 411 from me!

    Rudy that was total disrespect to your sister bro, you should be ashamed. :mad: :mad:

  18. Did you ever send the wrong text message?

    Read this link

    This is the most embarassing one I think;

    Yes, I had been working away for few months overseas and just landed in London. I sent a steamy text message to my wife basically asking her to get "ready for me". Unfortunately my wife is called "Deb" which is just after my "Dad" so he got the message instead!

    Ron Hannah, UK

    This must be the worst, check the name;

    Just recently, I was dating a man named Miguel but everything changed when he sent me the wrong text message. He was supposed to send the message to his ex-boyfriend (who he supposedly broke up with) but accidentally sent it to me. I was devastated. Men can be pigs.
