  2. Yemen and Puntland to further cooperation [12/October/2010] SANA'A, Oct. 12 (Saba) – Yemen and the autonomous Puntland State of Somalia have initially agreed to open a commercial office of the state in the country and a Yemeni consulate in the state to streamline the trade movement and strengthen the bilateral relationship. Leaving Yemen after a few-day official visit, President of the state Abdirahman Mohamed Mahmoud said on Tuesday Yemen and Puntland had discussed several topics including ways to boost the mutual cooperation between Yemen and Puntland in all areas and the fight against terrorism, maritime piracy and smuggling. He appreciated Yemen's efforts in supporting peace and stability in Somalia, saying Yemen has always shown unlimited support for the Somali people. FR Saba
  3. Originally posted by Jacaylbaro: Analysts say the incident is a blow to the Puntland administration which has taken a hard line against piracy. Last month, a pirate ringleader was sentenced to death for killing the Pakistani skipper of a hijacked cargo ship. About half of Puntland's prison population is made up of pirates. Somalia has not had an effective central government for more than 19 years and is plagued by insecurity. BBC The BBC is reporting the right news. Only Puntland can deal with Piracy...Its having a massive fight..
  4. ^^^ Siilanyu's campaign funds came from the covers of the Pink pound right.
  5. ^^^The Minister was on a working visit, he just thought this was Bari and could scare people with eight technicals. Aside from that, these groups in Garacad will be dealt with..
  6. Thankfull made a valid point as usual our Nassir keeps making things up. The Clan of Mudug regions supported Ilka-Jiir and Nuridin Diiriye and not Faroole. Also this was a misunderstanding this region has battle hardened and well armed local militias and the Minister with his 8 technicals were no match. The elders and local heads made sure this was settled fast and there was no larger issue.
  7. Nassir adeer, the political reality of Somalia as this posting highlights is that there are three distinct regions of Somalia. Puntland, Somaliland and South Central. Nothing else lad.
  8. I hope they ban it, it would be a positive development for the Somali community in the UK..

  10. The above job posting highlights the political realities of Somalia today. There are three regional states, Puntland, Somaliland and the South and Central of Somalia. Those who argue otherwise are deluding themselves, and one loves how the secessionists are put in the middle of the two equal other blocks, noting their lack of specialness. Its time towake up, smell the coffee and rebuild the motherland.
  11. ^^^A fake secessionist does not present us with any problem, he needs to get recognised first.
  12. LESSONS LEARNED It is obvious to Somalis and foreign Somalia observers that the creation of the Puntland self-governing state contributed to the consolidation of peace and stability in the zone; enabled it to re-build the disintegrated public institutions, rehabilitate vital infrastructures and encourage vibrant private sector development. These are important lessons for anarchic and warring regions of Somalia. I believe it is now recognized that if the South-Central regions had emulated the Puntland pioneering example, the situation there could have been vastly different and that the nation might have been at peace today. As a choice between unviable Northern secession and 20-year senseless civil war in the South, the Puntland option of federalism is acknowledged to offer the most practical solution to Somalia’s intractable political problem, in which Puntland could play a positive role since it has traditionally acted as the bridge linking Northern and Southern Somalia, not only geographically but also culturally – the “interpreter” of the two!
  13. ^^^That made a great deal of sense..Lets get back to thetopic.. Puntland's creation. The Constitutional Conference was convened in Garowe on May 15, 1998, after nearly 8 weeks of preparation. The composition and the working procedure of numerous delegates were an important innovation on past, post-1991 Somali conferences. Delegates to the Conference were directly elected from their respective villages, districts and regions; ex-officio political and regional administration leaders were part of the delegates elected along with their respective regional representations; and 27 most senior elders, who waived their right to vote so as to remain neutral, were there to chair the conference, resolve disputes, offer advice and witness the process. There were the principal political leaders, Gen. Mohamed Abshir Musse and Col. Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed of SSDF, Mohamed Abdi Hashi of USP and Ali Ismail Abdigiir of SNDU but their status inside the Conference Hall was simple delegates sitting with their regional delegations. Thus, there was a democratic, level playing field. The delegates at the Constitutional Conference were provided with the opportunity and power to decide, draft and elect whoever they wanted. The Constitutional Conference process took two and half months, which was unusually long partly due to regional representation and other local issues but the delay was mainly due to time needed for thorough assessment of the benefits, effectiveness and implications, regionally and nationally, of decisions concerning the adoption of a federal system of governance. Issues concerning the name and borders of the entity, the impact on national reconciliation and unity as well as on regional economic development were deliberated for weeks.
  14. ^^^Oh my bad were you comparing the road infrastructure of the US to those in Somalia?
  15. ^^Puntland State is dealing with things head on, its already curbed the power of the AL Shabaab, and now wil turn to the last Pirate base in the state. Its a tough job, but the state is up to the job.
  16. ^^^I forget you are from Norway and not Somalia, sorry you are in the wrong forum.
  17. Adeer you sound desperate after the defeat of the Al Shabaab agent you have become rather unhinged. Wiil Cusub whats runsome?
