  1. Waaryadhaa ciyaal puntland wax maadiin sheega: You have got enough mileage out of this poor girl, enough is enough. And for Allah's sake demonestrate an iota of conscience and remove the Girl's picture(alleged to be a victim of rape) from your websites.

THE SLOW TO ANGER JAJUS TURNED PRESIDENT HAS NOW FINALLY BESEIGED HIS FORMER COLLEAGUES HOLED UP IN THE JAJUS EPICENTRE THE PEOPLE OF SOMALILAND ARE WATCHING THE JAJUS SAGA WITH CONSIDERABLE AMUSEMENT. 3. Hanaan and MK: In my opinion, the often used term "seccessionist" is more offensive then the term *******. Its also highly inaccurate description of what Somaliland is about. We also need to face the facts, the ***** system and its supporters are responsible for the societal mayhem and the destruction that has dashed the hopes of the Somali nation. This element of the Somali nation must come to terms with their role in the destruction of the Somali nation, but since it seems they are unrepenting and continue in denial and arrogance, I honestly can't see how anyone can deal with them in a dignified way. 4. Nationalist: You and your ultra-ego orgiliqe are typical revisionist prodigies spawned by the barre of yesteryear and the new torch bearer c/yusuf of the utterly bankrupt, oversized shoe wearing and soundly defeated delusionary idealogues. I have seen your distortion of Somaliland's colonial history and the hoagwash super-patriotic fairy tales. You have even had the audacity to claim that the architect of the SNM, and its holy struggle against a regime with genocidal intent, was Barre's twin Cabdillahi yusuf and his power crazed movement, who were simply envious that it was Barre and his kind raping the Somali nation instead of them . We have even heard from you the term faqqash was invented by cabdillaahi yusuf and his supporters . Now its our famous stuppid Somaliweyn idea or should i say blunder. Oh yeah off course, it was born and designed in Somalia, and then you had to sell it to reluctant Somaliland by practically surrendering to our hegemony. Here is an idea, why dont you start revising prospectively and stake your claim on the more worthy act of revoking that disastrous union for aabo cabdillahi yusuf. This ethiopian sponsored neo-barre movement headed by c/yusuf is nothing new, we have seen this hypocrisy many times before and we have always soundly defeated it. This time you have neither religion nor nationalism to drape yourselves in. And even if you did manage to cloak yourselves most eloberately everyone knows the emaciated feeble old lady underneath it all. So dont get ahead of yourself with this new Kacaan history. 7. I guess to puntlanders radiolaascaanood and allpuntland are responsible media. The problem in Somaliland is that the imperfect democratic system has allowed faqqash remnants to infiltrate the power structure and Somalilanders are eager to once again defeat this bankrupt mental state, however this time it will be done through the ballot box. We hope to confine the faqqash mentality to where it was born and continues to be bred, its original home of puntland and gedo. Until then spare us the hypocrisy which seems to be part of the fabric of your very being.
  8. ODA: Indeed! Another glaring reminder that the our struggle for a decent and competent governance is not done. However, pay no heed to the puntlanders who continue to follow, support or tolerate the likes of Morgan. These shameless scounderels and opportunist are only exploiting Samsam's blight. In fact, the political exploitation of this case by puntland is hindering the peoples demand for justice and those who want to hold the government and the system accountable. I hear of new initiative by Boqor Buurmadow to resolve the issue via "dhaqan". This will unfortunately help riyale's administration save face, but will also spare this poor girl and her family the torment of being exploited by politicians and propagandist. I hope Samsam is freed, to become yet another living symbol, as the boqor himself is, of the people of Somaliland's struggle for justice, accountability and good governance.

Doctored history, legends and fiction will not help you today, neither will the taquut ina cabdullah xassan nor aabo siyaad...Your new saviour is cabdillaahi yusuf so stick to his side and make your final stand in laas caanood. And make sure you dont run from the last piece of scrub and desert left for your desolate lot as you ran away from your fertile land of Caynaba, baladhig, ceel afwayn, hawd etc. My apology to the rest. 11. Its was on a friday in the blessed month of ramadan that the c/yusuf's puntland malitia chose to carry out surprise attacks against Somaliland's positions and they eventually paid a heavy price for it. In my view, all this is too little too late, the tide has already turned and it seems nothing will resolve this conflict but a fight until there is one clear victor. Many feel the time has finally arrived to finish the unfinished civil war of the former Somali Republic. Kowneyn
  12. The European Union Together With The United States Is Believed To Favor The Recognition Of Somaliland Defense & Foreign Affairs — --- — 03 November, 2004 Defense & Foreign Affairs Daily, 2 Nov. 2004= From GIS Stations in London and Washington, plus sources in the Horn of Africa. Sources in London and Washington have confirmed that the UK and US governments have privately expressed anger and concern over the fact that the newly-elected President of Somalia, Col. Abdullahi Yussuf Ahmed, undertook as his first major act as President of Somalia, the instigation of a military attack against the Republic of Somaliland (former British Somaliland, and a former member of the union with Italian Somaliland, to create Somalia in 1960). Pres. Yussuf was reportedly warned that his actions would jeopardize Western relations with the new Somalia Government, which, for the most part, is functioning in exile, given the ongoing conflicts within the former Italian Somaliland. See Defense & Foreign Affairs Daily, October 13, 2004: Radical Warlord, With Ties to Islamist Terrorist Groups, Elected Somalia President. Defense & Foreign Affairs Daily, October 14, 2004: Election in Exile of Puntland Warlord as Somalia President Raises Fears of New Internecine War in the Horn. As well, sources said, Pres. Yussuf’s actions could precipitate support by the US and UK for Somaliland, a step which could bring the Republic of Somaliland back into full international recognition. The Defense & Foreign Affairs Daily report of October 14, 2004, noted: There were concerns ... that [newly-elected Pres. Yussuf] would attempt to invade the neighboring Republic of Somaliland, as his Puntland forces did in August 2004. The concerns were prophetic, although not difficult. Col. Yussuf’s Puntland region forces had repeatedly attacked Somaliland positions in the past, and three attacks took place following Yussuf’s election to the Presidency by the Somalia Parliament in exile in Nairobi, Kenya, on October 10, 2004. On Friday, October 29, 2004, at around 09.00hrs local, on the day of prayer and rest, and during Ramadan, Puntland forces attacked three Somaliland military camps around the area of Adhi Addeeye, 25 miles north-west of Las-Anood, inside Somaliland territory. A letter of protest issued by Somaliland Foreign Minister Mrs Edna Adan Ismail on October 30, 2004, noted: We strongly believe that the attacks follow recent consultations between Abdullahi Yussuf and his former deputy in the Somalia State of Puntland, Mr. Mohamed Abdi Hashi, who is now the new warlord of that region, with the sole aim of discrediting and destabilizing the peace and tranquility of Somaliland, while at the same time attempting to justify Abdullahi Yussuf’s request for International Peacekeeping Forces for Somalia. The protest continued: Following the attack, the forces of Somaliland drove away the invading militia, causing them to suffer heavy losses both in life and military hardware. The responsibility for these deaths lies squarely on the shoulders of Abdullahi Yussuf and are tragedies that would not have happened if Abdullahi Yussuf had honored the promises of reconciliation he had only last week made to the world [when he was named President of Somalia]. So far, Somaliland has tolerated the numerous provocative actions of Abdullahi Yussuf, including the assassination attempt [against] the President of Somaliland while in Las-Anood in 2002, and the occupation of some areas of Somaliland since 2003. In the interest of peace and security in the region, Somaliland had up to now shown extreme patience and restraint. However, as a result of these recent, successive and naked provocations on the part of the Puntland State of Somalia, Somaliland’s tolerance and peaceful intentions are withering away. The Government of Somaliland wishes to reassure the international community that it will not pursue the militia of Puntland State into Somalia provided that they voluntarily withdraw their militia out of Somaliland territory. The reassurance we gave to the British Foreign Minister for Africa only last week still holds good for Somaliland even though our patience is wearing thin. Foreign Minister Adan Ismail said that Somaliland would not hesitate to defend its borders, and called on the international community to pressure Pres. Yussuf to withdraw the Puntland forces from Somaliland. Significantly, GIS sources in the Horn of Africa said that there was clear evidence that units of the ****** National Liberation Front (ONLF) participated with the Puntland militia in the attacks in the Adhi Addeeye area of Puntland on October 29, 2004. A considerable number of ONLF fighters were among the 60 dead attackers. The Puntland-led operation cost the attackers a reported four senior commanders, including the commanding officer and his assistant whose bodies were now in the custody of the Somaliland Army; 43 were captured, seven of whom were moved to hospital, and four other attackers died en route to hospital. On the Somaliland side, three died including the commander of its 31st battalion. Fleeing the battle field, the Puntland militia kidnapped many civilians as hostages and later declared them captured soldiers. Meanwhile, UK sources said that there had been a break in the case of the two British subjects who were assassinated on October 21, 2003, by the Islamic Union/Islamic Unity Party (aI-Ittihad al-Islami: AIAI). US intelligence and Somaliland intelligence agencies believed that they know now who killed the two British teachers in the town of Sheikh, where they worked for SOS Kinderdorf, an Austrian children's organization. The AIAI gunmen were now fugitives in Somalia. In a related development, on October 27, 2004, the British Minister for African Affairs, Chris Mullin, who had just concluded a three-day visit to Somaliland, told BBC Somali Service that the Republic of Somaliland fulfilled all the criteria for recognizing states. He noted: We must accept the realities on the ground. Somaliland has done everything we have asked of her. They have created a democratic country, and succeeded to rebuild their country from scratch without outside assistance. He was speaking in response to a question as to whether Britain was breaking ranks with the international community’s stand that there was only one Somalia. Speaking about his visit to Somaliland and what he saw, the Minister said that the people of Somaliland were concerned that the international community was going to force them to re-unite with the people they escaped from, in the first place. Minister Mullin noted: I re-assured them that Britain would not allow Somaliland to be forced back into a union with Somalia. The European Union together with the United States is believed to favor the recognition of Somaliland. However, regional observers say they do not want to be the first to grant recognition to Somaliland. Instead, they want an African state to be the first to recognize Somaliland, before they, too, can follow suit. At the same time, the Ethiopian and South African governments have indicated that they would immediately recognize Somaliland, provided that it was clear that other states would also do so
  13. Listen to this thirty minute discussion of Somaliland...Africa takes pride in its "best kept secret" will Somalis follow suite. http://www.channelafrica.org/english/tamtam.html long live Somaliland. Kowneyn
  14. I dont remember the thread but somebody mentioned that the word Gaadhi was borrowed from hindi...actually its more plausible that its the other way around. Somali= Gadiid--transportation Gaadh--to reach a destination Geedi-- journey and so on... Gaadhi- vehicle in hindi--the word gaadhi is solitary, unique and unconnected to otherwords, besides hindi is a language that was actually created during the reign of Moghul king Akbar the great... this a period when somalis coastal areas were heavily populated and heavily traded with as far places as china and probably dominated a large junk of the indian ocean and red sea trade. 15. MN Fadal successfully challenged and defeated the eurocentric imagination of race, a peculiar mindset obsessed with color, a culture blind to relations or origins beyond the skin pigmentation such that they were known to impregnate african women held as slaves and then turn around and sell their own children. Europeans dominance was accompanied by the imposition of this shallow mind-set on the people. Markuu gaalku buugiis ku dhigay sida biddood qaata Ee dhalashadiinnii bedela baarranku ahaaday He saw that such mindset if accepted would threatened or even erase his identity, and thus began his struggle to stem this tide and Allah gave him success. The result was the establishment of the Isaxaaqiya community (still existing in kenya) which struggled and fought the british until they were classified based on their origin and not on their color. Those who were indifferent or did not fully and forcefully participate in the struggle, he chastise them and calls them among other things buluush or asians who only claim the sheikh. 19. Xoogsade: The second line of article 5 of the Somaliland constitution states: The laws of the nation shall be grounded on, and shall not be valid if they are contrary to Islamic Sharia. I have already mentioned that the highest authority in the land is a legislative body that is envisioned to consist of culuma and culture leaders, they will be responsible for guiding the religious and political life of the nation. I think Salafi is saying that using his limited knowledge of sharia and his good senses Somaliland has made a sound judgement...and its wrong to scrutinize it based on sharia unless u are an expert in sharia. 20. Baashi: Nin daad qaaday xumbo cuskay Nothing is being dismembered, Somaliland has only revoked its disastrous union with Somalia... Also, Somalians like you and Otali have made a habit of using the eastern region of Somaliland, which I happen to be from, as political currency. Somaliland has its national army there and its not a clan affair. Our internal problems will be solved by the same wisdom we have solved all our other problems. Kowneyn

This is a distinctly jewish character and unacceptable in Islam. This is a sincere request to all the parties involved and I hope my ignorance in this matter is not offensive to anyone; its just a thought that came to me after reading some of the exchanges.
