While many UN reports on Somalia are ill-informed or incomplete - it is interesting to see the key aspects of this report borne out in Somalia. The fight against al-Shabaab has become virtually non-existent and the security situation has declined in Mogadishu under this administration. Why?

Nothing is new in the above, true that the security situation is not the best but then neither Baghdad nor Kabul are much better than Mogadishu, despite their huge security apparatus costs, as for the non-existence of the war against the terror group, you're being lazy there giving the layman account of it, forgetting that under the TFG, Al-shabab had a huge regular army to fight while today the Somali forces and their Amisom supporters are fighting suicide bombers and what terror act have you.

hmmm, from hints to facts the gap is way too huge, how about a non wanting succinctness ? ;)

  2. The monitors’ report said that it has identified at least two clan-based “centers of gravity” for arms procurement within Somali government structures that are distributing arms to “parallel security forces and clan militias that are not part of the Somali security forces.

And there we go with the investigations of IDENTIFYING .

clan-based “centers of gravity” in Somalia's government.

Wake me up the day a report that is unable to find clan-based “centers of gravities” in Somalia comes up.

  3. Cadnaan1, Her mother had all possible options available to her, given that Islam or her belief in being Muslim does not force her to disown her daughter, as you claim

Khayr, so you're proudly taking the role of the dungeon keeper of "traditional Islam" ?

Loose use of loaded terminology. What is coercion? Is it good or bad? What makes it so? In the present case, how was our lady heroine coerced? What should her family have done differently?

Stop pretending and address the issue if you want to contribute, It is not like her Mother is encouraging freedom of thought by disowning her .

Is it true? Does Islam demand disowning your children, if they question it's conformity to Reality?

  4. In case you've not noticed, this credulous mob mentality is turning you (Khayr and co ) into the thunderbolts of SOL.

Not only are you against discussing/debating Issues as they are, but you keep resorting and revelling in personal attacks.

So much so ,not being against :

    - Gender Equality

    - Homosexuality

    - Inter-faith marriages

    - Liberal Democracy

warrants the personal attack of sister Safferz, just because she thinks , "live & let live".

    Sad indeed.

I think these stories highlight importance of good Islamic education. Something we lack in Somali communities.

"good Islamic education" , come again ?!

Same argument could be made for the opposite position, namely "good Islamic education" could be behind why she left the Islamic faith.

Tell me , Does Islam demand of one to disown his/her offspring if they question or doubt it's genuineness ?

  6. Beside displaying the marred minds of SOL's everyday people, namely arguing as to why a 32 years old woman needs to not be disowned by her family to accusing all successful Somali woman/Girl in the west of political prostitution, you haven't touched the gist as it were.

Religious coercion is widespread among the Muslim community/family in general and in the Somali community/family in particular.

It ranges from holding a different view than your ' Wahabi' cousin or having a 'Takferi' uncle in the family, to being an agnostic or Atheistic openly.

There is nothing like religious freedom among the Somali family.

Does Islam demand disowning your offspring if they question it's genuineness, or there is no compulsion in Religious matters.

    discuss.

  7. Well done Ms Farah.

Say NO to religious coercion as an adult, when you were kid you had no choice.

And if your mother could not think of granting you the right to have your own opinion about what will happen to you after you die, and disown you instead, it's a pity, but then that is what religious indoctrination ( love "God" more than your children ) does to people.

When you were kid , it was Religious indoctrination, Now that you're an adult , it is a Religious coercion.

It is no coincidence that almost all religious people practice their parents' Religion.

  8. Just because you and Khayr keep constantly calling him loser instead of refuting his arguments speaks volumes of his superiority in the arguments. ;)

If I was a believer and had the means , I'd take that flight and get closer to "Allah" .

I also find it disturbing that parents and often mothers, use fear of God as a method to control their kids behaviour, for example you can tell your 5year old, dont lie, it is bad etc but instead we say "you are going to hell if you lie" (both incorrect and kids inability to understand this). At the same time kids dont get the opposite narrative or reward for their good actions thereby distorting the relationship they would've had with their maker.

Anyway I hope you guys enjoy reading outside the box- if you dont iminkaba ha isku furiin.
