  1. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! Bil_Jaceyl & Abdinuur Jazaakallaah Kheyran!!! zoom: how can u expect to succeed in ANYTHING without being thankful to Allah SWT? If u were in the past, it's Allah's test to u, like when some Non-Believers are given the so called "successes" of this world, it's a TEST!!! So if u're not taking the test of life well? Don't EXPECT to pass the others well. Try being thankful to Allah for haven given u the fingers to type with, the brain to think with, the body to use, and the MOST IMPORTANT the CHANCE TO LIVE ANOTHER DAY!!! Besides whoever said u had to be "religious" to do the BASIC mandatory duties? Praying 5 times a day makes u "wadaad"? or Saying "alxamdulillaah"? Subxaanallaah, where are we going...? Don't be fooled by the majority. I know it may seem as if I left the subject but Allah SWT is PART OF EVERYTHING!!! PEACE!!!

  5. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! It's one thing to read something and to actually FEEL it!!! This is soooooo true, thanx for taking the time to share this with us sis, Jazaakallaah Kheyr. PEACE!!!
  6. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! 1...get plenty of rest 2...get a nice place to study so u can be focused 3...have time intervals of break/study (e.g. 45min study 15min break) and during your breaks make sure u do something that will not exhaust u 4...u want a clear head READ QUR'AN!!! WALLAAHI IT WORKS, try it, it's really theraputic. 5...no coffee, no drugs, water is a WONDERFUL suggestion. 6...stay away from studying at home!!!! 7...take 1 subject at a time. 8...break BIG tasks into a bunch of small ones, and tackle one at a time. 9...use different resources to understand a subject (e.g. to study for chemistry I also use my H.S. chemistry book/other books/notes/and lecture textbook) so u don't get stuck on a subject, which can be a drag and disappointing. 10..it's always good to study during a time u can call someone up (like a professor or classmate) when u get stuck!!! I HOPE THAT HELPS ZOOM!!! GOOD LUCK BRO/SIS PEACE!!!

  8. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! U're right, I especially loved the part where u're thankful u can still see yourself. People tend to pay too much attention to how they look and don't take the time to be thankful they CAN see, and that they have 2 eyes, 2 ears, 2 arms, 2 legs,... They worry about too many other things such as skin color/height/weight... sooooooooooooo LAME!!! But since majority worry about it, it's suddenly ok for ALL to worry about it. I'm COMPLETELY satisfied with me!!! Because Allah SWT chose it for me, and I couldn't have been more thankful, Alxamdulillaah. I got my purple hat a looooooooooong time ago (I'm in my early 20's ok lol). PEACE!!!
  9. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! Ur_Sista_Muna Maasha'allaah Sis!!! If the question is what's the purpose of life? Like Allah SWT already stated "...ilaa li yac budullaaha..." THAT'S IDEALY!!! But we're human, and even though we SHOULD be doing that, we end up on the short end. We run after this worldly goods/ideas/life!!! We tend to want the whole 9yards: nice house/kids/$$$/car. But more often than we actually do, we should stop and say "Alxamdulillaah" for the things we have, and subxaanallaah DON'T HAVE. Well that's my 2 cents ( sorry lulla too personal of a question for me to give u my personal end of it) PEACE!!!
  10. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! Lefty I hear ya bro. Gotta run, PEACE!!!
  11. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! Lefty, Good Point bro, but do u think people of such a group ALONE would discuss it? I mean look at the Women's section for instance, it might be a so called "women's issue" but not women alone discuss it. Most of us, as Somalis, don't know how to stay on a topic forget STAY OUT of a forum that isn't 'titled' for them. I'm not arguing with you. Maybe we're pulling this to an uninteded direction. Anyhow, PEACE!!!
  12. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! When things get tough, JUST SMILE!!! It helps ALOT even if u don't want to and they u end up laughing at yourself for being foolish. It's good for the heart and soul. Jazaakallaah Kheyr for the reminder. PEACE!!!
  13. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! I would have to say: www.SoundVision.com They are very aware and updated on adaptation of the Muslim Ummah in North America and they also have cool stuff for kids and family. PEACE!!!
  14. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! I've seen people I met over the internet once, and it was BY CHANCE, they happened to live in the same city I was vacationing in. I would really hate to make an ARRANGEMENT to meet someone, but if it happens oh well. But it really depends on the person and what type of connection u guys may have. And hey it doesn't have to be the opposite sex either. That's all. PEACE!
  15. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! lakkad, thanx for the special insight bro. But my point was to ASK what's so special that u guys don't already talk about EVERYWHERE, and I've already read the other rooms. So in other words, u agree with me. Anyhow PEACE!!!
  16. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! I will have to say I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT FAITH!!! u might see this as menial or obvious but the question is CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT!!! Not WHAT DO U LOVE THE MOST? If I didn't have my family I'd survive, I love them VERY MUCH!!! And we'd survive without MEN, we'd probably be crazy, but we'd survive. Most of the things mentioned ARE THINGS U CAN AND PROBABLY WILL LIVE WITHOUT, but seriously if I didn't have FAITH I'd kill myself whenever I'm faced with any type of hardship, which life is FULL OF!!! PEACE
  17. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! Ur_Sista_Muna GOD!!! I thought that was my own little thing, honestly I can't STAND a guy who crosses their legs like we do and I've seen many Somali guys who do it, uuuuuffff!!! Bad Teeth, crocked or stained teeth are such a NO NO!!! Bad Breath, heck no!!! Bad manners, who ever said it was OK for guys to be fools "boys will be boys" mess don't work for me. Hygiene, U BETTA CLEAN YOURSELF!!! Nails, cut 'em!!! Bad dresser, ok there's guys who don't dress so great but are OK, but a BAD DRESSER is another thing: like guys who wear a dress shirt with jogging pants? what the heck? Guys who come on too strong, GET AWAAAAAY FROM MEEEEE!!! Don't "abaayo macaanto" me, how u know I'm sweet? U don't even know my name fool!!! HEY THE LIST CAN GO ON AND ON FOR ME BUT I'LL STOP HERE, THIS DOESN'T CONCERN U IF U ARE NOT PART OF THE TOP LISTED STUFF SO DON'T JUMP ON ME, THIS IS MYYYYYYYY OPINION!!!
  18. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! I HOPE I HAVEN'T OFFENDED ANYONE, BECAUSE THAT'S NEVER MY INTENTION.
  19. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! loooool!!! I can't believe my brothers are getting sensitive on me, OOOOHHHHH!!! How nice lol. Anyhow, like Abdinuur said it's not necessary, but my opinion is that EVERYTHING ELSE IS A MEN's FORUM, indirectly. Do u not see that? I mean really, I thought that was obvious, although I'd be EXTREMELY CURIOUS to see what u MEN have to say in 'YOU OWN FORUM' the question to me is WHAT DO MEN ACTUALLY TALK ABOUT? THAT THEY WOULDN'T IN JOKES/GENERAL/POLITICS/RELIGION/ WOMEN? I'm not turning u down, just trying to CLARIFY what u're asking for. PEACE
  20. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! lulla what happened to the 4 guys u were doubting? whether they wanted u or the body? or am I just assuming wrong that they were Somali too? I'm not trying to be funny or smart, just wondering what brought the sudden change? On answering the post, I can only speak of the encounters I have had with Somali men, let it be friends or relatives: MEN ARE MEN, just as WOMEN are WOMEN regardless of race, nationality, or religion; there are some good and some bad. I don't think Somali men are any better than other men at all. And DON'T JUMP ON ME; if u're trying to read between these lines, there's nothing further to read into!!! I appreciate those friends and relatives of mine but I don't see how their wonderful encounters were influenced by being Somali. That's all, PEACE!!!
  21. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! Well there are many different angles to view this topic from and I guess everyone tends to stick to the one which, either they prefer or experienced: All being valid in their own way. 1. Somali woman who become educated and choose to become no different than the uneducated one (putting her education to no use); 2. Somali woman who becomes educated and all of a sudden thinks she has balls to CHALLENGE MEN and tell them YOU AIN'T BETTER THAN ME, which ends up at 40+ with no man (TOO LATE TO GO BACK NOW!!!ARROGANCE!!!); 3. Somali woman who becomes educated and decides to improve the chances of her children's life in this world and the hereafter (nothing like having a strong educated mother uplift your spirit and help with MATH/BIOLOGY/HISTORY/ GROWING UP/UNDERSTANDING DAD!!!); ALL I KNOW IS THE MOST EDUCATED IN BOOKS CAN NEVER DO THE JOB OUR GRANDMOTHERS DID!!! SHE COOKED (LIKE I'LL NEVER KNOW HOW),CLEANED (LIKE NO OTHER), KEPT ALL OF US SANE (WHEN WE JUST WANTED TO SCREAM) HOW MANY OF U CAN LIVE IN A HOUSEHOLD WITH 30+ PEOPLE TODAY?!!! THE ARTISTS THEY WERE POETS/CRAFTS (DIRIN TOLID/BABBIS/ KOOFIDO...)OOOOOOHHHH THE CULTURE THEY HAD, THE DIGNITY THEY POSSESSED, THE TALENT!!! THE LIST GOES ON AND ON BUT I CHOOSE TO STOP HERE! I'm a #3 person as u may have already guessed my intention of getting an education is to improve my household, something I missed out on, something I think has kept Somalis/Muslims behind the rest of the world. We only live this life once so I will live it to the fullest. It's all in your intentions, KEEP IT REAL AND PRIORTIZE TO FIT YOUR LIFE!!! That's my 2 cents, PEACE!!!
  22. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! Biotin is a good vitamin to take that's especially good for hair and tails. But personally: 1. Comb your hair from the tips and work your way up, which is the opposite of what we usually do; 2. Don't comb your hair when wet, it damages your hair; 3. Occasionally (once a month) use these products: plain yogurt, eggs, honey, mayo, or qasl (Ex. Neema) from Indian stores. 4. KEEP IT NATURAL STAY AWAY FROM CHEMICALS!!! BE THANKFUL FOR THE HAIR U HAVE OR MAY NOT HAVE!!! That's all for me byeeeee
  23. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! Interacting with others is a big step away from one's so called 'comfort zone' and that takes alot for a person to do that. It really has nothing to do with Somalis, but we ARE Somalis here and therefore it's necessary to make the broad topic a bit narrow to understand. Anyhow, I would suggest that many do it, because I know I have. I've grown more appreciative of my culture and most importantly of my religion. You see, u become more aware of what u have and don't have and u'll understand how IGNORANT u can easily be. And man u'll realize how much HUMANS have in common regardless of culture/religion/and place of living. We cry the same way, we love the same way, and our wants in life are most similar than different. Oh well that's my 2 cents. PEACE!!!
  24. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! Subxaanallaah!!! I don't know why anyone would DEPRIVE their child of such a blessing from Allah SWT. It makes my skin crawl when I hear of women who do NOT want to breastfeed their children, if ONLY they knew!!! I've heard of women who say that there are now so many vaccines to protect children from various childhood illnesses and also sooo many new nutritional diets to help keep kids healthy, BUT NOTHING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING REPLACES THE BENEFITS OF BREAST MILK. So far as to NOT prevent women with HIV/AIDS in Africa to breastfeed their children. You see breastmilk is a way to transmit the disease to the child BUT they say the environment can be JUST AS deadly withOUT breastmilk. So anyhow, if you're a mother or mother to be and intend NOT to breastfeed, I hope you can answer to your child on the day of JUDGEMENT WHY? Because that's a RIGHT he/she has on u. That's all for me. PEACE!!!
  25. Asalaamu Caleykum Waraxmatullaahi Wabarakaatuh!!! Jazaakallaah Kheyr!!!
