  1. Having a country, and building one are two different things. A lesson to the separatists in Hargiessa from the poop nation, Eritrea- a country born in 1991 with much fanfare and jubilation, that is now experiencing a slow agonizing death. Fourteen Eritrean footballers disappear in Uganda KAMPALA, Dec 3, 2012 (Reuters) – At least 14 members of the Eritrea soccer squad have disappeared in Uganda while playing in a regional tournament and may eventually claim asylum, Ugandan officials said on Monday. Eritrea is one of the world’s most secretive states ruled by a reclusive president. This year United Nations human rights chief Navi Pillay accused the Asmara government of meting out summary executions, torture and detaining thousands of political prisoners. In July last year 13 members of an Eritrean soccer club sought asylum in Tanzania while 12 members of the national squad disappeared in Kenya in 2009 after competing in a regional tournament. Rodgers Mulindwa, a spokesman for the Federation of Ugandan Football Associations (FUFA), told Reuters the players had not been seen since early Sunday. “It’s true, some of the Eritrean players have disappeared. They’ve not been seen at their hotel since early yesterday and it’s very unfortunate,” Mulindwa said. Police spokesman Ibn Sekundi put the number of missing squad members at 18 but said the team’s management had informed them the players were simply “checking on relatives”. Eritrea were taking part in the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) competition. Eritrea last played on Friday, losing 2-0 to Rwanda. Moses Watasa, from Uganda’s Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) which is responsible for processing asylum applications, said the Eritrean players had not made contact. “As of now we haven’t had any contact with them so we don’t know their whereabouts, but it’s possible they might want to seek asylum later,” he said.
  2. ... to predict .... Nice try, xiinfaniin . The nutty professor did not just predict it. He broadcasted it as a matter of fact. Abtigiis is a habitual liar. No doubt Illey has been a pain in the behind for Osman's boys and the Hargiessa separatists. . Had he made it clear from the onset that the demise of Illey was his wishful thinking, I would have forgiven him. But that wasn't what he wrote.

  4. Cry me a river, xiinfaniin. Rumours are not facts. And this is not the first time the nutty professor posted rumours as facts. It won't be the last either.
  5. Abtigiis, Don't dig deeper hole than you've already dug for yourself. Admit you farted, ask forgiveness, and control your urge next time. I know that's hard to do, but make the effort. Farting like a donkey is not serving you any good.

    Jigjiga

PasserBy: While I agree with you to some extent about the "construction boom" in Jigjiga I have to also say Xaaji xunjuf posed a valid question by comparing Jigjiga to other capitals within the Ethiopian Killil system, so instead of resorting to argumentum ad hominem why don't you address the points he raised. Development requires peace as a prerequisite. And peace was illusive in Region 5 until President Abdi Mohamud Omar came to the scene. He took the sting out of ONLF and other criminal elements. On top of that, he battled corruption that was at a chronic level in the regional administration. Once the federal government was convinced things are on the mend, it started pouring money in. Roads, educational institutions and health facilities were built. The airport was upgraded. Water, electricity, telephone, and other amenities were either built or upgraded. In the end, though, the government, both federal and regional, can only do so much. Private investors have to do a fair share of the development activities. In Adama, Bahir Dar, Addis Ababa, and Hawassa, there are numerous private investors engaged in different fields. Many of the buildings you see in these cities are privately owned. To his credit, President Abdi Mohamud Omar has been traveling to different parts of the world, to meet and inform the Diaspora community from Region 5. He has met some success. Ethio Somalis have come back and started investing. Over all the signs are encouraging.

    Jigjiga

Dont tell me about Jigjiga i have been there in 1998 it doesn't look any different today. That is BS. You just don't want to give credit to President Abdi Mohamud Omar. I know why.

    Jigjiga

Adama, besides being the capital of Oromia, is a strategic commercial link to Addis Ababa.

    Jigjiga

Bullshit compare it to all the other regions of Ethiopia Jigjiga looks nothing like other Kilils capitals of Ethiopia Actually, development in many parts of the country is a recent phenomena. I was in Addis Ababa in 2003. I was shocked the pace of change I saw in the city in less than a decade. It started with Arkebe Equbai in Addis. Jijgiga's transformation started later than Addis Ababa's. But it has began thanks to the steady leadership of the President of Somali Region, H. E. Abdi Mohamud Omar. Better late than never.

    Jigjiga

I visited Ethiopia for three weeks between the middle of February and early March. I had a chance to see Jigjiga briefly. I was impressed. There is construction going on everywhere. I am eager to see what the city will look like five years from now.

  13. loooooooooool...this is rich. Why is it rich? Listen Xabash injirle, Siilaanyo is a Somali man while Melez is a raw meet eating 2 inch tall dirty midget. Meles may be psychically short, but he is a mental giant. That's what counts.
  14. Meles, as Tigre, knows the predicament of being an ethnic minority. One of the reasons his party pushed for a Federal System of government in Ethiopia was so minorities would feel they have a stake in the country they live in regardless of who is at the helm in the center. It must therefore have been disconcerting for him to see Silanyo, from the moment he came to power, was busy alienating minorities in Somaliland. First, he arrested the vice chair of UDUB party. He then arrested journalists he considered were hostile to his clan. Subsequent to that he used the clan majority he enjoys in the enclave to marginalize Awdal and SSC clans. Now he has launched a full scale assault on Buuhodle with catastrophic consequences. You can't win the hearts and minds of SCC residents with bullets. Give them a stake in Somaliland or else they will find their fortunes somewhere else.
  15. somaliland on the other hand, signed a mou (memorandum of understanding) with the federal republic of peter pan and the semi-autonomous state of easter bunny. looooooooooooooooooooooooool!

  17. Somaliland is a joke. Unfortunately, the Hargeisa clan is taking it too seriously.
  18. Abdul We havent seen or heard Ethiopia fight a war without getting outside help.In almost every war, foreign armies and power come to their rescue. Which foreign power helped xabashis in the battle of Gundet against Egyptians? In fact it was the Egyptian pasha who employed American and European mercenaries to no avail. I also wonder which foreign power helped xabashis in their epic battle against the Italians in 1896 in Adwa? Abdul, you are a village *****.
  19. Bal maangaabnimadan eega... if he don't objectify women, what are we supposed to objectify? Goats? Easy now, you don't wanna give some people ideas.
  20. Mr passerby somali girls are more beautiful than ethiopians..everyone knows that. There are 6 supermodels from the continent of A frica. All 6 are somalis! Also there are more somalis in the west, so naturally they would have all kind groups.Stop your little nationalist stuff.... You forgot Liya Kebede, Gelila and another girl her name I forgot. There was also this girl. Somali girls have one advantage over xabashi girls- height. To be honest though, modeling is less about beauty, and more about distinctiveness.
