What Sland does or does not is beside the point. These communities simply don't want part of the secessionist project. It is that simple.
Che,
Its true some residents of Laascaanood don't want to be part of Somaliland but its equally true that others want to be part of it. This is the case everywhere in the world. Some Scots want independence yet others cherish the United Kingdom, same with Québec, Catalonia, and other politically divided places.
Personality I am a big supporter of people's will, freedom, and democratic voices. So if it was up to me, I would let go anyone who was not willingly on my side. However, it is not as simple as that and there are so many other factors to consider in these kind of issues. If Somaliland is supposed to let go parts of its population, why is the federal government in Mogadishu required to hold on to its claim of representing Somaliland? Do you really expect Somaliland to give up its rights unilaterally as it once so foolishly did?
Ok, lets say Somaliland decides that it wants to let go of its Eastern regions. Would the federal government in Mogadishu sit down with the government of Somaliland to decide where our new border would be and would they recognise it as our international border? Would they recognise the rest of Somaliland as a separate independent state?

The violence in Laascaanood is the result of Somaliland being led by useless people especially ina kaahin, he should be sacked as soon as possible.

Somaliland, of course, Genel and CPC Taiwan, will not bother with this Donkey speak. The answers will come in 12 months when the first Oil Well comes online and soon after Somaliland earns its first income from its Oil.
If they ever take a legal action against any investor in the Western courts, Somaliland will have a huge opportunity to challenge Mogadishu's claims to sovereignty and expose the whole fraud the illegal "union" was built on.

We have done before, we can do it again.
It is not going to happen mate. Nationalism isn't going to and cannot solve Somalia's problems. The Somali problem is a faith in Allah problem, and only a kacdoon of the heart and mind coupled with a complete surrender to Him will there be any chance of change.

Couldn't agree with you more. Mr Vladimir Putin should have taken over Somalia instead of invading Ukraine which is a well organised and well defended society. Being a member of the Russian Federation under the iron-fist rule of a ruthless dictator would be better for the lawless Somalis.

Either you are lying to us by having a comfortable life somewhere in the West or you are one of the few connected elites of the "new Abu Dhabi" for most of the wealthy residents of the "new Abu Dhabi" are like their Southern brethren mysteriously starving and short of every basic necessity of life.

It is not befitting of a Muslim to slander another fellow Muslim, so you owe Ilhaan an apology.

I read first few lines, unimpressed, below average writing introduction, it went into complex ,very sophisticated reading and fonts were different, graphs, research, discoveries, lab results, I was impressed, and Google some of the research work, 99% copy from another student in South Africa.
I was very sad and confronted him, did I pay your fees to copy and paste, with no paraphrasing, no references!!! Presenting someone's work, as yours, he says, this is how research is done in SL, walaahi it was over 95% copied!! He also send others student work, same issue!
Xaaji is fake, country is fake, everything is fake and they not aware they are fake.
He could be working for this ministry or someone like him.
Indeed this whole fakery thing would be very funny if the consequences of going under the knife of a "doctor" who obtained his credentials by such an unsophisticated deception wouldn't be catastrophic.

Xaaji please stop making excuses for the behaviour of our shameless thieves. Copyright infringement and the theft of intellectual property is a serious crime worldwide so the ignorant and wrongdoing individuals in our ministry must be disciplined or sacked.
I know the regime which is holding on to power by illegal means doesn't care about any kind of rules let alone international copyright laws, but it does make Somaliland look bad in the eyes of others.

Of course once an agreement is reached the Somaliland army has to be on the ground keeping the peace and protecting the nation but it is the Garaad clan who first take the initiative to put their political eggs firmly in the Somaliland basket.

Yesterday wadani become kulmiye and yesterday kulmiye become wadani . It’s crazy support rajo party the elections will happen i. About a year time I think. That’s the latest I don’t think somaliland will collapse because the election got delayed . It always got delayed during siilaanyo ina rayaale in cigaal. Apperently only Tuur held the elections on time after the two years finished
Is that professor Samatar's party?

I guess only Buuhoodle is now partially out of Somaliland's control. Boocame is a clear proof that it is the Garaad clan who is joining Somaliland willingly and the long running allegations that the Somaliland army took Sool by force is finally debunked.
-
Any news about the election fiasco? Or may I say the lack of it? What is being advertised here is a mere window dressing when the foundation of the country is unravelling. A house which is not built on solid ground is bound to crumble. If the fundamentals of Somaliland's nation building is found wanting and the cohesion of the public goes out of the window, these horse mounted police officers will soon take their orders from good old Xamar and the Taiwanese diplomats you guys are fond of will be chased out of Hargeisa in no time.
I am no supporter of any of the corrupt parties and politicians wasting the peoples' time and resources but what is becoming apparent to any normal human whether inside or outside of the country is the shear lack of a sound political structure and functional institutions even after thirty long years!!!

A black US president and now a brown British PM indicates the huge and growing divide between the pragmatic Anglo-Saxon nations of the west and the somewhat still institutionally racist non Nordic Europe.

The other day @maakhiri1claimed that Bay & Bakool are more prone to starvation because **according to him** these regions are the most densely populated. When I asked for evidence, he went AWOL.
Come back with supporting evidence and in comparison to South Somalia's trade balance sheet.
I go to Hargeisa every year and khat consumption is rampant. The trend might be going down now thanks to the relentless dacwa work of the religious community but addiction to that expensive drug is still a major economic, social, and public health problem. If people stop consuming it or the locals produced it in Somaliland, the money saved would have transformed the country beyond recognition. One thing which impressed me though is the very low consumption of cigarettes. A very small percentage of the public are smokers.

Here I will capture some pictures which show each of the periods that Somaliland went through, from British Somaliland Protectorate, to the failed Union, to the newly found state and the current state of affairs.
Hargeisa Airport in British Somaliland, 1950s.
1960 - 1991 - The lost years and lost hope.
Hargeisa Airport during the failed Union with Somalia. Photo taken in 1989 with Rhodesian mercenaries that were hired to destroy the city of Hargeisa, in the background a derelict building.
Renewed hope, mid 1990s
President Dahir Rayaale added a new departure terminal in 2005
President Siilaanyo added new Arrival terminal and facelifted Dahir Rayaale's building in 2014.
Future
Hargeisa needs a new and modern Airport, which includes its historic buildings intact but modernised and centralised.
The only thing which changed after all those decades is the technology, from black and white photography to the digital. Other than that, the Hargeisa airport is a sad reflection of Somaliland's stagnation and the serious lack of vision and competence of its successive leadership. By comparison, in the same period, the world changed beyond recognition. Economic and military super powers emerged and now those who succeeded are planning for their next phase of progress by setting their sights on Mars and beyond.

That is a possibility but then the authorities in Hargeisa are as usual busy watching people's social media accounts and harassing the innocent law abiding public. You can't expect useless people to be of any use. If the culprits are alshabaab, then I am afraid they have already gained a valuable lesson of how to operate also in the cities of Somaliland.
