Gheelle, have some mercy please. Mintid is on a mission to educate the world about Puntand's piracy problems
-
Mintid, yes we like more articles about Puntland. Unlike your enclave, Puntland as a region is very secure with its relations with the world. No ammount of hired pens can change the leverage that comes with being located at a geopolitical crossroad where 30% of crude oil passes through, and 15% world trade shipments passes as well. Manage your time, brother.

Somali Forces Re-Capture Aw Diinle From Al-Shabaab
xiinfaniin replied to xiinfaniin's topic in Politics
It was Ethiopians showing their strategic 'service'---they were not happy how government intervened with local admins, and I believe since they are not part of AMISOM, EU excluded them from funds it made available for AMISOM yesterday. So this was them saying , 'we matter'. -
One off article, in 12 January 2012...that is Mintid when he is not thinking right It was great for some of the money to be spent in Garoowe, instead of Nairobi and Dubai (which was where the bulk of pirate profits went) Dahab Shiil, a Hargeysa based hawala business understood the business side of the piracy , ask around awoowe EDIT: The subtext of Mintid's effort is to educate outside world about Puntland and its pirate relations . Seriously, the brother thinks his little posts have far reaching consequences and could have a policy change

Somali Forces Re-Capture Aw Diinle From Al-Shabaab Wednesday, March 20, 2013 Somali soldiers, backed by Ethiopian troops, recaptured Aw Diinle town from al-Shabaab militants who temporarily took control of the town a day earlier, Somalia's Warhaye reported Tuesday (March 19th). The takeover followed a lengthy battle between the militants and allied Somali National Army and Ethiopian forces, said Bardaale district commissioner Mohamed ****. Somalia's Kulmiye Radio reported at least seven casualties, but did not specify on which side. Aw Diinle, in Bay region, is 30 kilometres west of Baidoa.

Che, Our secessionists brothers are going through a tough period politically speaking. So bear with them awoowe. I have been entertaining them last few days

Somalia;928685 wrote: War Somalilanders are far more aware and surpass collective bodies all over the world. They know something people (who govern economies of which the secessionist region would not even measure on the same scale) do not know! Yet, this same world which was unaware seems to be connected to Puntland more than ever, ambassadors and dignitaries having visited the region more frequently, unaware international bodies pouring in millions to fund development projects, companies having invested over $100 million in oil exploration, whereas the secessionist region is slowly becoming isolating. The notion that Puntland in anyway wants to resemble a destitute region living in political purgatory is of the utmost insult. One has to aim a little higher than that. I demand this lecture be repeated in Hargeysa university, if such a school exists

NGONGE;928628 wrote: ^^ True. True and not true. PL has long reconciled itself with the Somali idea (even if the Imam threatens to breakaway from time to time). They sat down and signed the Garowe one & two agreements and are now courted by the world as an agreed part of Somalia. This bears no comparison to the situation of Somaliland. Mintid has every right to overdo it, saaxib. Bal ka waran if I decided to breakaway with the general section of this site. He that teases Lions will stamp his feet in anger and say "ma dhici karto" but if I manage to convince the advertisers that finance his site to bring me and him on different sides of a table to clarify our future relationship, arrinti ma waxa noqon doonta "there are lines not to be crossed" or "legitimate aspirations"? Waa dhac oo caadi aah, which means he will do well to keep an eye on the politics and women sections. NGONGE, you and I know with respect to the development, political significance in the region and security issues, that you are making a difference without a distinction in your effort to stand Somaliland out.I already said , the need to talk to Somalia to resolve Somaliland's claim of independence is an important face saving formula for Somaliland both at home and abroad. Puntland as you know does NOT need that for it was much wiser than SL and understood such a school boy behavior will not ultimately sit with adults. It rather (again wisely) chose to frame and architect the political settlement in a structural way---a political structure that even you will not find difficulty to escape no matter how long you entertain this south/north talk.. Look, today Puntland, and not Somaliland, is a model for Somalia in the big picture. Being the understanding man you are, you of all people understands I reckon the quandary Somaliland is in today. So lets not resort to silly analogies, especially when they involve taking a share of our Lion Teaser advertisement money

Hassan's timely intervention saved the day for warlord Indhacadde

LOL@Mintids's come back to counter news articles about Somaliland's political problems. Check: The fact your enclave cooperates with Puntland says a lot of Puntland's position in the region
-
^^ :D We shall see. All I know is alshabaab is a tough nut to crack, and without political ownership in those regions , these nuts would always have a fall back.
-
^^The international community (with US senators, ministers, important embassies and all ) routinely flies to Garoowe. They give tens of millions to Faroole, and today UNDB talks with Puntland had high level officers in New York, and Nairobi attending via video conference ... So there is another province that gets world's attention as well, my dear NGONGE. But in the big scheme of things, all these things are done to put Somalia together for Somalia is located at an important geopolitical crossroad. On top of that, there are lines these leaders would not dare to cross despite the talk of 'legitimate aspirations', wishes at the 'street' and whatnot awoowe, and you know it. So Mintid is indeed overdoing it, and he needs to be called out
-
^^The talks gave significant boost to Siilaanyo administration in both at home and abroad. It enabled him to kill one stone with multiple birds as it were. Locally , he was able to say we are sitting with our neighbors at the highest political representation (no Puntland , Galmudug etc). Internationally, he was able to 'appear' reasonable and well versed in the geopolitical realities that surround his little enclave. A brilliant political play from the old man on both accounts. Where I think he missed the point (if indeed he thought he could continue hiding the truth from his people with respect to what these talks are all about) is misreading the resolve of the powers that be in their desire to settle this twenty year old tragedy called Somalia. As he found out in his trip to London, the IC meant what it said. It recognizes Somalia as broken state, but never questions its territorial integrity. It expects Siilaanyo and co to make the political sacrifices that is required to reach some type of confederacy or union with the South for the regions under Hargeysa's control. Apparently Siilaanyo expected another face saving formula to be devised in London (don't get me wrong it could still be) just like the case was in the last conference. But the odds against him, the momentum slipping away, new powers getting in the game , and the old ones conceding to the reality of Somalia's coming back to the world. Siilaanyo (with demagogues at home, and international community waiting him to deliver) has his work cut out for him. I have nothing but sympathy for the man
-
^^You never know what they will do for certain. But the odds are against them if they choose to stick with their original confusing stance. The fact security situation is unraveling in the South does not help them either. I know AMISOM in Kismayo is insistent upon the formation of a broad based administration before they continue thier offensive against Alshabaab who still control majority of both Jubba and Shabeele regions, including the important cities of Baardheere, Jilib and Baraawe...
