  2. You guys are blind? Where did I say it was Islam who was persecuting those poor women? I spent my time here stating that islam has nothing to do with this barbarity. Millions of muslim women need our help from a muslim male society that decided to rob them from their rights in the name of Quran which is unfair and against Islam's teachings. As muslim, we should NOT ignore the suffering of our sisters and turn a blind eye. It's time to denounce those hijackers of our Religion.

Been badanaa! No village remotely sounding or nominally similar to makalajabti exists in Ethiopia... and as others have said your moniker is highly suggestive, laden with subliminal messages whether intentional or not. It's few miles off Diri-Dawa. Have you ever been to Ethiopia by the way? If not why did you say I lied about that village? Some people are FREAK.
  7. Dude I know all that but it doesn't give you the right to equal christianity with violence. She is wrong so you gonna say wrong things because she has a hidden agenda?. No one is fool of what the lady said about middle east politics but we should refrain ourselves of saying the "wrong things" about christianity or judaism.
  8. Bahraini Women's Rights Activist Ghada Jamshir Attacks Islamic Clerics for Fatwas Authorizing Sexual Abuse of Children Al-Arabiya TV (Dubai) - 12/21/2005 - 00:05:01 http://www.memritv.org/Search.asp?ACT=S5&P1=77# The third clip! Following are excerpts from an interview with Bahraini women's rights activist Ghada Jamshir , which aired on Al-Arabiya TV on December 21, 2005. Interviewer: What do you have against the Shari'a courts? Ghada Jamshir: I have a lot against them. What they have done to the Bahraini women is not a trivial matter. For years women have been going into these courts, only to be oppressed and treated unjustly. We have reached the point that we say: enough. We have reached the breaking point. [...] We have a problem with family planning. We have no family planning in Bahrain. The Shiites in Bahrain have marriages for the purpose of mut'ah (pleasure). They bring multitudes of children into the world, without thinking, who grow up in the streets. It's accepted for a man to marry a Filipino woman, a Bahraini woman, and a third woman from Iran, and then he takes two or three women in mut'ah marriage... How many children will he have?! Interviewer: On September 12 you declared that you call upon or advise the persecuted women of the Gulf, and especially the Bahraini women, to request "social asylum" in France... Ghada Jamshir: Not in France, in Spain. Interviewer: Pardon me, in Spain. Interviewer: You want opposition from abroad? Ghada Jamshir: The point is not to have opposition from abroad. The point is for them to live and be protected in a safe country. If a woman cannot get any protection in her country, cannot get any protection from the courts, cannot get any protection in the marital home - where will she go? Where will she go? [...] Interviewer: Some people say that Ghada Jamshir is a Sunni, and that this is why she is leading the battle against (mut'ah) marriages, which are authorized by religious law among the Shiites.>/p> Ghada Jamshir: Authorized by religious law?! Interviewer: Among the Shiites, yes. Ghada Jamshir: Does the Islamic Shari'a authorize mut'ah marriages? Does the Islamic Shari'a authorize mut'ah according to the following classification: "Pleasure from sexual contact with her thighs." They have: "Pleasure from sexual touching." "pleasure from sexual contact with her breasts." "Pleasure from a little girl." Do you know what "pleasure from a little girl" means? It means that they derive sexual pleasure from a girl aged two, three, or four. Interviewer: Let's not go into details... Ghada Jamshir: Let me tell you what "Pleasure from sexual contact with her thighs" means... Interviewer: Don't give me the details... Ghada Jamshir: This is a violation of children's rights! This constitutes sexual assault of the girl. What does "pleasure from sexual contact with her thighs" mean? It means deriving sexual pleasure from an infant. How old is an infant? One year, a year and a half, a few months? Is it conceivable for a grown man to have sex with an infant girl? And you people tell me that the Islamic Sharia authorizes this? Forget about the mut'ah. Let's talk about misyar. What do misyar marriages mean? You said that I'm a Sunni and that's why I'm attacking the Shiites. No! Interviewer: Some people claim that. Ghada Jamshir: No, no. What does the misyar marriage mean? A man marries a woman from another town, and goes to her once a month. He "visits" her. He calls her his "wife." Interviewer: Not necessarily once a month. He might go there every day. Ghada Jamshir: Brother Turki, this kind of marriage, this kind of behavior, diminishes the woman's honor as a human being. [...] All her life, the woman is a prisoner in her own home. In the past, she would not go out to work, or to study abroad. Very few women would go to university outside Bahrain. She is at home in order to cook, sweep, and raise the children. How will she get an education? There are women whose families are extremist. They even force them to marry against their will. You tell me, why is female circumcision still practiced in the Arab world? Why? Because there is no education, no awareness. A few days ago, a four-year-old girl called An'am died in Sudan. Interviewer: Why? Ghada Jamshir: Because she was circumcised. Four years old, and she died of blood poisoning. [...] I am convinced that I was 100% right in everything I have done. Interviewer: You have been accused of heresy by some places... some Internet forums. Ghada Jamshir: So what? Even in mosques they accuse me of heresy. So what? You think that if they accuse me of heresy, it affects me? Interviewer: You don't care? Ghada Jamshir: No. Allah will decide whether I go to paradise or to hell, not them. Interviewer: Don't you think that those who accuse you of heresy... Ghada Jamshir: These are the methods of the weak. Interviewer: They say they are right, and you say you are right. Ghada Jamshir: Who gave them the right to accuse me of heresy? Interviewer: Who gave you the right... Ghada Jamshir: What, did they go into my heart... Interviewer: They say... Ghada Jamshir: Did they see whether I pray or not? Or maybe it's because I don't wear a veil. Interviewer: So you don't care. It doesn't affect you? Ghada Jamshir: It doesn't bother me at all.

  10. Clip from Arab television channels: from honour killings to wife beatings. Those millions of women in the Muslim World need help! http://www.memritv.org/Search.asp?ACT=S5&P1=77&P3=2#
  11. Waww I was really amazed by this woman , she is not afraid to say what she thinks about muslims' problems. We may disagree with her on some points , mainly about Israel because it's another conflict! But she got right on some views : Why do muslims use violence to express their opinions? EVen though the failure of their gouvernements which are all dictators may be the answer. Muslim people are powerless because they are not allowed to choose their political leaders. I like the part when she says that muslims reject other believers and call them names and also refuse to let others express their ideas. And that point is confirmed when she says she doesn't believe in God and the sheikh present in the studio says to her: "if you are a heretic, there is not point in rebuking you". He refuses the debate because she is not muslim.

  13. I think men tend not to seek help for "minor" problems. They just wait till it goes away. And sometimes it goes away. And it is a noble way to deal with them, unless it is obvious a medical advice must be sought! Anyway, it depends , for my part I harrass my doctor for nothing as I write this, she is trying to struck me off her list and get a court order! Anyway, doctors in Uk are heartless and deserve to be shot, they reflect the state of the infamous NHS (National Hearth Service): the worst in the Industrialised World.
  14. Makalajbti is the name of a small village in central Ethiopia, I have good memories from this place hence my nickname. Thanks Ahura for the links, I am new here and I didn't know this subject has been debated so many years. Still, I think the mentality hasn't changed in Somalia where they are still "cutting" and here where some somali parents prefer to perpetuate this tradition. I don't know why after everything has been explained about this practice (religion, healthcare), people are still doing it. There is something disturbing about it.
  15. The Female Genital Mutilation (FMG) of Somali women is a dangerous and painful practice. It has no religious basis but surprisingly somali people are reluctant to abandon the practice which supresses the woman's sexual pleasure and also the practice is seen as a mean of guaranteeing that girls will stay virgin. Excision is a painful agony , it robs her of sexual pleasure and frequently causes medical problems, including hemorrhaging, infection, urinary incontinence, infertility, and complications in childbirth. The World Health Organization estimates it will take a minimum of ten years to reduce the prevalence of genital mutilation, and three generations to eradicate it. My questions are for nomads here : Do you value this practice? Will you do or have you done it to your daughters? I heard that somali mothers in the West take their children to Somalia or Dubai or Egypt to get it done. Will you do the same?

It makes no logical sense. I urge you instead of watching too much british television, and letting them put that junk in your head, learn your deen abaayo, and think about what your saying. You may regret it in five years when you turn twenty. May Allah protect you. Salaam I am not angry and frustated walaal because I was born in a free country, I have never lived under Sharia rules,so I have never experienced inequality or discrimination due to the fact I am a woman. However, I am aware of the fact that muslims women (in most muslim countries) live differently (they must wear Hijab to start with and I am not talking about their human rights). Now if you don't wanna put the blame on Islam, what's left? Men and Patriarchal societies. Hence my point. I know my deen but still knowing our deen doesn't mean turning a blind eye to muslim women's plight. People think weird: they think the more religious you are, the more you won't open yout mouth and criticise your muslim brothers and sisters. Abdul-noor, I am not a teenager so quit being condescending. Muslim world is in deep mess and ignoring the problems is not the best solution.
  17. Mr Jibis ? I've got a scoop for you. Any woman has the right to spread her legs like that whenever she feels like. It's none of your business and you better quit your bigot attitude, because you sound like a looser and hater!
  18. Jimca Lee If you can vote, study and work today it's because of the feminists you despise so much! They fought for you! Ungrateful woman.
  19. E-Nur entreprise for polygamy is inspired by the Mormons model of family. It's not about men's pleasure! Of course...
  20. What's worrying is the number of people applauding !

What part of Somali are you referring to I wonder. Fact 1:In general, everywhere in the World, people don't take shit from others if they are financially independent. Question : You are right for one thing, we don't come from the same part of Somalia because in my little corner, in the past (not nowadays cos Halimo' are superwomen now), divorce was bad, and parents wouldn't want to feed their daughters's children because she managed to anger her husband.
