  1. ^Sounds phenomenal. I really should make canjeelo one of these days, it can't be as good as I remember.

CL ease up before Adam comes in here with guns blazing. :D

Lily, far more chilling than infertility in older males is the increased risk in having a child with schizophrenia (like Down's syndrome for older mothers).

  2. ^I would sell state secrets for some muufo Juxa. But Ibti might not be familiar with them, can never remember which delicious part of the southern cuisine reer Somalilanders aay ka qadaan.

  3. Why you should never fall sleep with the news radio on: last night I dreamed I was a Russian spy.

ME: What!? No, never! I would never be a traitor to America!

Interrogator: Come on now, you don't believe that. Think, maybe it slipped your mind. You were deep undercover for many years; some people forget.

ME: I'm telling you, I'm not a spy! ... Er, hold on... Actually now that I think of it, yeah I am. [sheepish look]

Interrogator: We thought as much. Tell me, how do you receive your orders?

    ME: Rice Krispie Cereal boxes.

    Interrogator: Genius.

  4. :D:D @ Rob Green has injured himself. Apparently, he put his head in his hands and immediately kneed himself in the face.

Ciil waxaa iga haya I missed that goal. Being the resident "expert" on soccer I was turning to answer a question (about how long soccer games last) when the ball dribbled out of Green's hands

And I was 5 minutes late arriving so I missed the first goal too redface.gif

  5. I will be watching the England v US game tomorrow.

I hope one side is wearing blue jerseys, that's who I usually root for :D (unless it's against a team wearing black shorts, obviously).

  6. Seeker, to add to Che's suggestions, I find it helps if I state my "achievements" more as opportunities I'm grateful for, it cuts down on the cringing :D

Instead of I got good grades in school! (which they can see for themselves if you had to submit a transcript anyway) I'd rather say I was fortunate to receive a merit-based scholarship from X College, which allowed me to pursue my interests in blah blah ...

    Good luck!

  7. Subax wanaagsan GJ.

I need to get another cup of coffee. I found myself thinking, "the world cup opening ceremony is at 2 PM, but I guess it's already happened in Africa/Europe/Asia. I wonder how it was."

Sort of like New Year's celebrations or something

  8. But what exactly where you getting at Nuune? :D

It sounds like one of those topics that is sparked by a specific person or event but one tries to generalize so they can rant about it?

"Why do men not call when they say they will and then when they call they don't pay attention when I want to complain about my sister-in-law's fashion sense for an hour and then why don't men call back to apologize if you get mad and hang up on him, er I mean them?!"

Was there a qalanjo with childbearing hips and a generous bosom that turned out to be a 13 year old who just wanted you to buy her Mars bars?

  9. FB, at least I got one thing right :(

C&H, I just think self-loathing is underrated nowadays. I'm going to write a self-help book about it in fact:

"If You Are Seeing A Movie Alone You Know It's because Nobody Wants to Hang Out With You, You Mouth-Breathing Imbecile: And Other Ways to Overcome Crippling Confidence".

  10. To go off on yet another tangent :D I always wonder about this self-esteem obsession of modern life. Is it so bad to have a bad opinion of yourself? Like, there are plenty of people YOU don't like right? What if you just happen to be one of those people? Maybe your sense of humor is irritating, you cheat on exams, you are a lazy bum. Isn't it a realistic self-assessment to decide that you are a crappy person?

Knowing that there are nice people and not-so-nice people, while at the same time insisting everyone think well of themselves is mind boggling. Do you want George W. Bush to have a healthy self-esteem? How about that woman suing you for emotional distress because you called her a petty cow?

*Gives self disgusted look in mirror*

  11. If you guys think "kissed his stomach" literally means just that, I've got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn :D

    Stuff iyo nonsense

PS, didn't another taxi driver go on a shooting spree in the UK? That's what ya'll get for not tipping the drivers! Next, waiters will be stabbing you with butter knives.

Actually Lily, I did have an idea of the life story of someone who was born in 1977 (as his father fought in the Somali/Ethio war), who was a teenager in 1988 when his soldier father was based in SL, who then fled to the capital and caught up in the 91 civil war and accidently set up (and invented) the thing now known as an asbaaro. who casually fired an rpg that brought down a black hawk. who due to his ruffian habits prevented his family from leaving the capital to relocate to baydhaba and, as a result, avoided the famine there. who became in mp in AY's parliment and then defected to Al Shabab.....but then I realised that I'm more or less telling the story of Faarax Gump.
    :D

:D Run Faarax Run! Will he make his millions by piracy?

  13. Seeker, you take a full matchbox and flick it into the air such that it lands upright, on its side or flat. Different points for each orientation. Ten points if it's upright, 5 points if it's on one side, 2 points if it's face-down and 0 points if it's face-up.

I found out recently that it's an old drinking game here :D
