My opinion is somewhere between Mr Faarax's and Rudy's. I can see them wanting to stop the cinemas playing movies and stuff, it's just a waste of time anyways, but banning the soccer games is taking it a little too far. But speaking of taking it too far, is how some soccer fans react when their fav team loses, and in a country like Somalia, where they're trying to bring back peace, I can imagine some fans may go overboard and fight against fans of other teams, and what's next? I'm surprised at the amount of people that laugh at me when I tell them I want to live in Somalia someday insha Allah. Some of them say they would rather stay in Canada, and have given up hope on a peaceful Somalia. I could understand if you were born in Canada, or came here when you were young, but Somalia is still your country no matter what. I've seen T-shirts and bumper stickers with that phrase LOL. But after seeing this trailer for the documentary Somali Voices and seeing some Somali people that actually want to go back for good, at least I don't feel like a freak anymore. P.S. before 2002, the only thing I knew about Somalia was the dragging-Maraykan-soldiers-through-the-streets thing, and that it was having a civil war. Since then, even I have given up on a peaceful resolution to Muqdisho's problems. I realize now that lots of blood will be(and already has been) spilled on the rocky road to law and order in Somalia. So I can only imagine how the citizens of Somalia feel. I know my wife has already given up and plans insha Allah to live her life in Canada. That being said, while I applaud the news that at least one group is beginning to take over and restore hope to the people, and that group is those who claim to stand for Islam alxamdulillah, we also must realize that Somalia still has a long way to go and it's still not safe by any means, I know I'll still get killed, and that, sadly, is the meter with which I will judge the safety of Muqdisho with.
