Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mahamoud is facing very tough challenges in his attempts to end the political repercussion in the south-western city of Baidoa where clan representatives recently elected two different regional presidents each claiming to be the legitimate president for the controversial regional state.

Leading a large delegation of cabinet members and MPs, President Hassan arrived in Baidoa on Sunday in a bid to end the political rift that caused huge divisions amongst the city’s nearly 300,000 inhabitants each supporting a different administration.

 

The main objective of the president’s trip to Baidoa is to prevent from bloody violence as each of the self-declared states was committed to implementing political views in the region.

 

Analysts believe that President Hassan will have difficulties in persuading the leaders of the opposing regional states to withdraw from their claims and convene for another conference to elect a single regional state president.

 

The region’s leading politicians, PMs and businessmen have been lobbying for the six-regions state, while the rest including Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden are lobbying for the federal government’s recognition of a different state comprising of 3 regions.

Can president hassan sell the 3 region state supported by Ethiopia and Kenya and the Puntland and Jubbaland clans . The people of baydhabo want the six state initiative. Can President hassan enforce the 3 state formula on the people of baydhabo. What about the most disputed region Lower shabelle can Hassan compramise on lower shabelle in order to win over the Bay and bakool regions, to support his government. well done by The President Sh Hassan and Guddoomiyaha baarlamaanka for visiting Baydhabo ee xarunta gobolka Bay in times of Turmoil and unrest . All Federal states in South are KMG and not permit - . The Country is at war with Terrorist the two Group in Baydhabo are to reconcile . The Gov visit sends strong signal that Somali Gov and the people will solve their internal issue.

Mugdisho is a mess with foreign troops. Kismayo is a mess with foreign troops, baidabo is a mess with foreign troops, the pirates have been permanently pushed back to 2.5 villages in the desert.

 

No real army in Somalia other then foreign troops. No trust on government, severe curroption.

 

The international community has lost faith in this government, Hassan sheick spends more time abroad then his block compound in mugdisho.

 

The average somali on the street does not see any real improvement in 2 decades.

 

And you still think Somalia is not dead.
