Inspiring Somali Healthcare Workers

Recommended Posts

Coofle

Providing Healthcare services is a primary need of Humans but in Somali inhabited peninsula Healthcare has become a delicacy only enjoyed by those who have capital and connection to neighboring countries.

in the midst of this fog only few healthcare workers are evident and shining in-spite of the difficulties they face. Many are unknown to the world of Media as they are busy saving lives, others like the few Listed are well known and acknowledged for their efforts.

Lack of enough finance, Trained personnel and equipment are major drawbacks to healthcare in our region.

*Edna Adan

*Dr.Ibrahim Siciid (Dr.Qaws)

*Dr.Maxamed Jaamac Salaad :- the only neurosurgeon in the Somali peninsula.

* Dr.Hawa Abdi

The fact that Somali women have to still live with fistulas is a gut-wrenching and immensely saddening piece of information. One cannot imagine what a Somali woman suffering from a fistula experience, may Allah ease their suffering and dispair. These are the type of issues we should be debating and working towards resolving... instead many Somalis waste their energy and efforts on petty qabyaalad and divisive political issues. One more reason to put qabyaalad behind us, move on from conflict and focus on resolving our common problems as the Somali people.

I've not heard of Dr. Ibrahim Siciid, but im a massive fan of both Edna and Dr. Hawa, who are entirely selfless and they do brilliant and yet much needed work.

Obstetric fistula should have been controlled long time ago knowing about only one patient is saddening, its a living misery.

Dr. Ibrahim Siciid Started to perform Fistula operations solely before grants from Fistula organizations reached the country. Now Edna adan hospital and Fistula hospital in Borama are dedicated for the extinction of this preventable yet predominant condition.

Living misery. I couldn't have put it better myself.
