he Red Crescent had also set up water distribution points and toilets in the tent-site, Lostar said.

A Turkish tent-site shelters almost 10,000 Somali people in Mogadishu, the head of Turkish Red Crescent's delegation to Somalia, said on Monday.

Safak Lostar said almost 10,000 Somali people were taking shelter in 1,700 tents set up in Mogadishu, the capital.

"We will raise the number of tents to 2,000 in coming days," Lostar told AA correspondent.

Lostar said Turkish Red Crescent was meeting food need of Somali people in the temporary encampment.

The Red Crescent had also set up water distribution points and toilets in the tent-site, Lostar said.

Lostar also said, "a mobile bakery set up in the tent-site is producing 16,000 loaves of bread a day, and we are cooking and distributing hot meal to 10,000 people."

Somalia is facing with one of the worst droughts in the past 60 years.

The epicenter of the drought lies on the three-way border shared by Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia, a nomadic region where families heavily depend on the health

of their livestock. Uganda and Djibouti have also been hit by the disaster.

Tens of thousands of people have so far been displaced due to the humanitarian situation in the region.
