Minneapolis, Minnesota June 23, 2011 –The Sanag, Bari and Haylan Communities of Minnesota are highly honored to invite all Somali Minnesotans to celebrate with them the first year of Maakhir University's existence. The Maakhir University, established in 2010 and located in Badhan City of Sanag Region, Somalia, provides innovative undergraduate education that contributes to the development of the individual and Somali society, in general. It actively facilitates learning through preservation, discovery, syntheses, and dissemination of knowledge. Currently, it has a student body of 200 enrolled in three colleges: Education, Islamic Studies and Information Technology. The University, in its infancy now, is aspiring to become a fully functional university of nine colleges in 2017.
