On the anniversary of Somaililand's declaration of independence, we warmly invite you to a panel debate to launch two exciting new publications:

 

  • Somaliland: Change and continuity. A Report by International Election Observers on the June 2010 presidential elections in Somaliland. Written by Michael Walls and Steve Kibble, published by Progressio.

  • Somaliland: the Way Forward: Achieving its Rightful International Status - Vol 1. Edited by Jama Musse Jama

Following peaceful elections and transfer of power in June 2010, this timely event offers an opportunity for participants to assess the progress of Somaliland over the past 20 years and discuss its future.

 

Speakers include Progressio's Dr Steve Kibble(Joint Coordinator of the International Election Observation Team) and Dr Abdishakur Sheik Jowhar(contributor to 'Somaliland: the Way Forward').

 

After the debate guests will have an opportunity to view photojournalist Claudia Simões' photographs documenting the June 2010 election. Refreshments will also be provided.
