Caged Animals or Revolutionaries?: The case of Egypt and the Aftermath of Mubarak's Abdication

Recommended Posts

Most of us if not all of us here recall the night his excellency Muhammad Husni Sayyid Mubarak announced his departure from politics and resigned his post as the President of the republic.

Egyptians from all walks of life took to the streets, full of jubilation, honking their car horns, chanting, singing revolutionary songs and generally coming together to celebrate what Obama called an encounter with history and he went on to say that the abdication of President Mubarak was one of those occasions.

By reacting to Mubarak's resignation, President Obama when on to state:

By stepping down, President Mubarak responded to the Egyptian people’s hunger for change.

Not Obama, not you, and certainly not me thought the occasion will be followed with Lara being ravished in the square by a mob of men followed with an act of aggression and brutality.

On the night in question, a young, charismatic journalist by the name of Lara Logan nearly escaped with her life after being brutally assaulted by a mob of "Muslim men " at the heart of Naar Square, which brings me to my original question, were the perpetrators caged animals or revolutionaries?

For the perpetrators facts were the least of their concern because they were so enraged that a jew with be in their midst after hearing the shout from an onlooker who said (she is a jew, she is a jew) that they would gang rape a female in a public square, while onlookers did little to contain the mob of men who feasted on Lara on the nigh of question.

It mattered little to her assailants that she was a war correspondent for CBS and the chief Foreign Affairs correspondent for CBS News but she is also 60 minutes correspondent, which is one of the reasons why she opened up about her attack in order to "break the silence code" that sexual assault is not something to be ashamed of, sexual assault done in the name of religion is just as worse and for that reason, Lara decided to speak about her attack and confront her rapists and for that she should be commended.

Neither her beauty nor her profession was questioned when she took to the center of naar square (Tahrir Square) to report the celebration, the call for change, the happy faces of the crowds, instead we the world saw happy, excited crowd, eager to show their faces on the camera as they ushered in a period of change.(farce if u ask me)

As Lara took to the square, mobs of young men, smiling from cheek to cheek surrounded her, happy to show their face to the camera and happy to let the world know that they have lived to see that moment, on that hour when Egyptians met their faith, DEMOCRACY at last, shouted one man. Freedom has come to EGYPT shouted another and at a moment's notice, Lara's Camera went out(as she would report , a dead battery was the cause) and the crowd got anxious, several men let their hands instead of their mouth do the talking, groping, touching Lara inappropriate places. One moment Lara is reporting the news, the next she is the news.

Two hired local guards/drivers, her personal guard, her producer and her photographer could not only protect her but she was intentionally separated from them by force. Her personal guard was being held by a group of men as other mobs made their way to take their turn as they repeatedly assaulted Lara. Just as the groping was becoming more intense, a voice from the crowd shouted

she is a jew, she is a jew

and her clothes were immediately torn off, her body was violated not by one or two but many egyptians, mostly "Muslims", "peaceful revolutionaries", who are suppose to not only set good example but lead by example took upon themselves to sexually assault a female repeatedly until her cries were heard by a group of Egyptian women. Lara recalls seing the veil of one of the women who rescued her, a Niqabi]. According to Lara, they have managed to disperse the crowd and soon after several guards came to her aid, beating their way into the crowd just to get to the victim, an innocent woman whose only crime was giving the caged animals the benefit of doubt by reporting the news.

The mob of gang rapers felt that their action was justified, which is why they intensified the sexual assault upon learning of her Jewish ties. (no time to vet the female, lets get the jew, she is the enemy)

"Muslim" men gang rape a female and claim their actions was justified because she was a Jew.

To interpret the gang rapers action is to say that Jewish women should be raped by all caged animals in the Arab world because Jews, as far as these animals are concerned are the enemy and the violence against jewish makes it an acceptable action. says the rapist. After all, they are jews right? (Does it even matter whether the claims of her jewish faith are true?)

While rape is mostly a learned behaviour, acts of rape committed by rapists go unpunished in the Arab world. The Lara Logan assault is no different. Moreover , rapists are more consumed with the pleasure and gratification aspect of the act than they are about what religion their victims profess. In Egypt and most Arab states, the crime of rape is committed by the victim nor the rapist.

yours truly, and forever,

LayZie G.
