^Shabelle is one of the few objective media outlets left in Mogadishu. The TFG thugs ought to stop complaining about Shabelle and start abiding by the law. If they weren't involved in criminal activities and breaking the laws they swore to uphold as parliamentarians, there would have been nothing to report.

The conflict between Shabelle and the TFG is not clan-based. If this is the case, as you seem to imply, then it paints a sad picture of this "government". The TFG's crackdown on shabelle dates back to 13th of Jan, the charge then, although not publicly disclosed, centered around the TFG's insistence that Shabelle refrain from reporting the plain fact that Ethiopian troops were supporting the government. Shabelle did not differ from other media outlets around the world in reporting this plain fact.

 

The TFG only backed down due to threats from the EU that funding would be cut if it did not reverse its crackdown on the media. Mind you, although the crackdown included HornAfrik, there is abundant evidence to suggest that the real target was Shabelle. Were the TFG to have their way, they would have barred all media outlets; except for a single outlet to report on the virtues and travels of "President" Yusuf.

 

Shabelle takes its responsibilities seriously. In this critical juncture, Somalia needs media outlets like Shabelle to report the news without alteration, free from government interference or clan-based affiliations. I believe Shabelle is already free from clan pressures, it is government intereferce that is the problem.

Quiet the opposite. I find many reports on Shabelle with which i do not agree. I applaud Shabelle for its impartiality. The difference between you and I, is that i don't rely on others to interpret matters for me. I visit a news site simply for the news and only then, after careful consideration of the facts, makeup my own mind. The stance of the outlet comes second.
