Yemen-Somalia media deal

SANA'A (Saba) - Yemen and Somali have signed here a media cooperation protocol.

 

The protocol was signed by Information Minister Hasan al-Lawzi and his Somali counterpart Tahir Gelle after the closing session for the Yemeni-Somali media talks.

 

According to the protocol, Yemen provides Somali with documentaries, religious programs, Yemeni TV series, songs and TV varieties, in addition to training the Somalis in technical and program training courses organized by the Media Training Institute.

 

The protocol encourages exchanging visits between Yemeni and Somalis journalists and correspondents and enhances communications between media corporations and exchanging media experts.

 

Moreover, the protocol stipulated tah coordinating efforts and attitudes in the different Arab, regional and international meetings on all issues as well as cooperation in combating terrorism and joint challenges.

 

After signing the protocol, the Information Minister Hasan al-Lwazi unveiled that the ministry was keen on conducting a study by the experts of the Yemen Radio and Television Corporation on establishing a Somali TV channel and a Somali radio station similar to the Yemen's stations.

 

He said that the ministry will present all the possible facilities for that, including information and technical equipments.

 

The Somali Information Minister hailed the cooperation protocol's terms, indicating that it provide Somali several chances to train its cadres and exchange media experiences.
