For the first time since Somalia gained independence 47 years ago July 1st is marked under occupation. The day which had brought felicity is no longer significant. Over the last 17 years of civil-war at least we were independent to celebrate it in our own way and with humility of knowing that it was not a perfect scenario, regardless though we were not under occupation.

The day,1st July, has no sense of good feeling, except sadness.

Some will be celebrating today as if it warrants any at all, but history also tells us there were also during the achieving of 1st July those who opposed independence and wanted the continuation of the colony, just like we have today those who spearheaded the Ethiopian occupation and yet want to mark the day. Shamefull indeed.

Juje,

Althought our country isnt in the happiest of times, mainly due to traitors and the lack of our own people actively chanllenging these poor excuse of a government, July 1st is still a happy day becomes it represents how our fathers fought for Somalia's independance, and that alone is worthy of all celebrations.

Long live Somalia!!!
