Salaan...

Our travel-loving sii soco, soo soco leaders almost always pass this city. You cannot imagine the so-called leaders going to a foreign country without first not passing this city. It is also where the so-called government's financial and other assistance are kept. Any foreign aid intended for the government usually passes in this city.

A considerable number of "ambassadors" to Soomaaliya are based in this city.

Any major shir that concerns Soomaaliya, especially a one relating to NGOs and United Nations is held in this city, as many important shir organized by Soomaalis themselves, such as the latest shir organized by the telecommunication sector, which was held in this city recently.

Many Soomaalis who travel from West to the country, but not big cities almost always go there as a transit, using the jaad airplanes.

It is the largest city most Soomaali warlords feel comfortable to stay. It is one of the few cities most warlords gather to meet, a neutral ground.

Most humanitarian NGOs are based in there; they are the NGOs intended to serve Soomaali people, instead they assess, report and request from their cushy and comfy beds of best hotels and mansions.

A considerable percentage of Soomaalis who seek the opportunity to travel to Western nations reside there, with buufis.

It, along with Dubai, is the desired destination Soomaali businesspeople’s likeability to expand their companies; it is essential once in a while to travel to this city in order to expand one’s thriving business, sometimes keeping their own saving accounts on their banks. It also has one of the largest Soomaali-owned markets.

Jaad. What allows warlords to manipulate their uneducated militiamen keep fighting senselessly is imported from here.

This city also has a [in]famous branch where Soomaali passport is issued from.

Which city is this? Is it quietly becoming our new capital city?

Nairobi along with Dubai are absolutely the most important cities for Somalia and will continue to be so for quite some time MMAqiyaar. Nairobi is a modern, cosmopolitan and multicultural city and one of the most influential cities in Africa. Somalis have been calling Nairobi home since the beginning of the 20th century. Not to mention that the British colonialists had relegated the Somalis into the status of the Asians, which brought many benefits to the urban Somali community in Kenya.

In Dubai at the other hand, the Somali community is the oldest, largest and most thriving African community in the city. So much so MMAqiyaar, that I've seen South Asian men mastering the Somali language to find a job in one of the many Somali businesses in Deira, Dubai's city centre.

But Somalia is losing out on all this, because of the insecurity and mass confusion in the whole country since 1991. We can't blame the UN and NG organisations for setting up base in Nairobi. Mogadishu is not an option. Jowhar is not an option. Hargeisa is not an option. Bosaso is not an option. Than Nairobi it is. We can't blame Somali businessmen- and women for setting up base in Dubai to operate in Somalia. There is no security. There is no bank. And more importantly there is no government. Than Dubai it is. And as long as the political and economic situation of Somalia doesn't improve, it will stay that way.

Salaan...

Daanyeer, saa sheegtay waaye. Waa aragtaa magaalooyin shisheeye markii la joogo, Soomaali ganacsi weyn ayee ka furtaan; oo Qaarkood ayaa Saambiya u socdo. Kuwana Koonfur Afrika. Kuwaa tukaamo waa weyn ku leh Ugaanda iyo Tansaaniya. Dubeey iyo Neyroobi iskaba dhaaf iyo meelihii kale. Laakiin su'aasha waxee tahay maxaa inoo diiday keena inaan dhisano? Maxaa isku aamin la'nahay? Hadaa weydiisid dadkaan dhulalkaan shisheeye ka ganacsado waxee ku lee yihiin anaga ma'aha ee dalkii nabad iyo wax la isku aamino kama jirto, ee anaga hana eedeynina, that marhore business iyo other venturing enterprises ka dhisi lahayn.

Hadee marka saas tahay, shisheeye ha u yeerano, iyaga hana maamulaan, Soomaalidiina dalkooda saas haku dhistaan, maadaama dalalkii kale Soomaali maamulin ee ganacsi weyn ka wadaan.

Eebbaa noo maqan.

Salaanta waa lagaa qaaday walaalkiis

Waa sax, ganacsadihii wax eedeyn ah oo loogu soo jeedi karo haba yaraatee ma jiraan. Dalkeena nabad kama jiro koow dheh. Waxaaba lagu leeyahay: Soomaaliya waa meeshii uga haboon aduunkoo dhan in business lagu furto. Saan wada ogsoonahayna waa bullshidh. Dhibaatooyin horleh baad la kulmi doontaa sida: lacagtii balaayada ahayd ee Soomaali Shilin, rag aadan aqoon meeshay ka yimaadeen oo ku qasqashaadaya maalin walba. Hadaad tolna leedahay kaaba sii darane, adoo inta taagan baa waxaaga lagaa boobayaa. Tolka wax faa'iido ay ku leedahay ma jirto, aan ahayn masaakiinta.

Teeda kale demandka guud ahaanba baa ka maqan wadanka. Bal hadaad fiirisid ganacsadihii waxay maalgelin ku sameeyeen, waxaad arkaysaa in ayan horumar ahayn laakiin ay tahay the inevitable effects of globalisation. Taleefoono aan laysu diri karin hadaadan isu provider ahayn, hoteelo iyo diyaarado loo talagalay dibadjoogto iyo gaalo. Don't get me wrong though, wax lagu amaano waaye waxay sameysteen. But if you look at the big picture, Soomaaliya is inching forward instead of leaping forward, if its even going forward at all.

^ Duke their position and prosperity is the only thing that can be expected on the back of the bleak despotism of somalia. After all you may take risks to bring in profit, but you keep your money where you have security.

However wrt.

They have also helped Somali's as places of refuge.

I think 'help' is too strong as an intension for the way these people have treated us.
