Nairobi (PP News Desk) — In 2023, Ndindi Nyoro, a Kenyan politician, entrepreneur and Member of Parliament (MP) for Kiharu Constituency, was compelled to delete a tweet expressing support for Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), the commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, who has been accused of massacring civilians in Al-Fashir. “Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), the commander of RSF. We are African and Africa is our business,” tweeted Nyoro.

The Kenyan MP deleted the tweet after reports emerged of atrocities committed by the RSF. Supported by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the RSF is engaged in a war with the Sudanese Armed Forces.

The deletion followed a post by Shoba Gatimu, who highlighted Nyoro’s 2023 tweet in a quote on the platform X (formerly Twitter). “Effusive or knee-jerk praise can cost a person his/her  career, especially during a conflict. You never know how a leader in a civil war will behave in future, so it’s wiser to hedge your bets,” said a retired economist in Nairobi.
