Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The Speaker of the Somali Federal Parliament, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), today visited Warta Nabadda Police Station today, where members of the Salvation Council led by former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, three former Prime Ministers and their armed security personnel visited yesterday gone.

“I have just seen the marks of bullets on the police station, which remind us of how houses were destroyed during urban conflict in the civil war. It is deplorable that such an incident has happened. I never expected that people who once held high positions in our country would be responsible for committing such actions. I sincerely hope that nothing like this will ever occur again,” said the Parliamentary Speaker.

Armed security guards accompanying members of the Salvation Council reportedly fired bullets at police officers at Warta Nabadda Police Station. A video clip shared on social media shows an armed civilian calling for the storming of the station.

Members of the Salvation Alliance claimed that their visit to Warta Nabadda Police Station was intended to secure the release of individuals they allege were “unlawfully detained.” Former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has also called for public demonstrations on Saturday, a call rejected by the Mayor of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab).

“The former President cannot call for demonstrations, nor can he designate any part of Mogadishu for protests without the permission of the Mogadishu local government. If he is vying for the position of Mayor of Mogadishu, he should contest the upcoming local elections in December 2025,” said the Mayor of Mogadishu.
