The Young Mujahideen Movement in Somalia issued a two-minute video and a communiqué through the Global Islamic Media Front to jihadist forums today, Tuesday, July 17, 2007.

 

The video contains footage of an attack they had claimed in a prior communiqué, firing mortars in Shibis at the location of the National Peace Conference during the opening speech of Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed.

 

For operations performed by the group yesterday, three attacks are listed in their “harvest” report, including the killing of four Ethiopian soldiers in the Ex Control zone, assassinating the deputy chairman of Afgoi district, Hassan Ahmed Hassan, destroying a car of Somali forces in Bakara market of Mogadishu with an improvised explosive device (IED).

(SomaliNet) The Somali delegates attending the national reconciliation conference began pouring into the Somalia capital Mogadishu as the interim government conducts wider preparation of preventing another delay.

 

Despite the government’s decision to hold the meeting inside the restive capital there are symptoms of increased violence and the insurgents vowed to bomb the conference venue.

 

It is widely believed inside the country that the violence will not end forever until the current government began negotiating with its rebel groups like the Islamic Courts who have public support.

 

A warning leaflets have been scattered on the streets warning anyone whose ambition is to take part in the peace meeting.

 

The Al-Shabab Islamists vowed to disrupt Sunday's meeting and foil any attempt by the government to bolster its clutch on the country.
