Las Anod Municipality Orders Residents to Seal Off Alleyways

Las Anod (PP News Desk) — The municipality of Las Anod today issued an order obliging property owners to seal off alleyways between houses.

“Assassins use alleyways to escape. Therefore, the municipality of Las Anod orders property owners to seal off alleyways between houses within one week” said Abdirahim Ali Ismsil, the Mayor of the disputed district.

Mounting insecurity in Las Anod resulted the division of the district into twenty seven neighbourhoods, added the Mayor.

Two weeks ago Somaliland government forcibly displaced more than 1,500 Somalis on the pretext that they were behind spate of assassinations against officials working for Somaliland government.

Las Anod municipality threatened tough measures against property owners that defy the order to seal off alleyways.
