Somali Prime Minister meets with Puntland elders and civil society

HE Mohamed Hussein Roble, the Prime Minister of Somalia has on Sunday held a meeting with Puntland elders and civil society in Garowe to discuss the current situation in the country, especially the upcoming elections in the Horn of Africa nation.

Prior to the meeting, Roble paid a courtesy call on Islam Isse Islam Mohamed and Garad Saleban Garad Mohamed, two leading traditional elders at his residences in Garowe.

The PM has thanked the elders for their role in preserving culture, building peace, and social cohesion in Puntland, the oldest Somali Federal State.

Somali PM has listened to their ideas on good governance and how to address issues that are important to the country’s future.

Roble met with various Puntland civil society groups at his residence in Garowe and briefed them on the overall situation in the country and the government’s approach to the election.

He commended civil society for their role in state-building and peace-building and urged them to play their part in issues such as elections where they have a say and influence.

During the meeting, the representatives of civil society shared important ideas with the Prime Minister on the national issues raised.

The PM who arrived in Puntland last Friday has been holding talks with the state leaders at the presidential palace to find a solution for the election rift.
