Ethiopian Airlines marks new Manchester-Addis route with promotion on flights to Africa

As Ethiopian Airlines prepares to launch its first flights from Manchester next week, the airline is offering reduced prices on tickets to several destinations in Africa.

Discounted fares include returns from Manchester to Kilimanjaro from £405, Uganda from £420, Seychelles from £458, Johannesburg from £435, Nairobi from £445 and Cape Town from £452, all connecting via the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

The promotion is running until December 15, 2018 and applies to flights between December 28, 2018 and June 30, 2019.

Manchester is the second UK destination for Ethiopian Airlines, with flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from December 11, offering the northern city a connection to 61 destinations across Africa.

Flights depart at 1805 and arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport at 0645, initially transiting via Brussels. Return flights depart Addis Ababa at 0045 and arrive in Manchester at 0720.

The route will operate a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with a two-class configuration.

State-owned Ethiopian is Africa’s most profitable airline and has been described as “the envy of all African governments”.

Ethiopian’s UK Country Manager Michael Yohannes said:

“Along with the ten existing flights from Heathrow, inauguration of a four weekly Manchester service makes Africa even more accessible along with some excellent connectivity from and to UK regional airports in conjunction with FlyBe, particularly Glasgow and Edinburgh.

“Passengers can look forward to convenient onward connections from Addis Ababa and unparalleled comfort on-board our Boeing 787 Dreamliner along of course with our traditional Ethiopian hospitality.”
