  1. What was the purpose of having a lean cabinet? Wasn't part of the justification that it is too expensie to maintain a large cabinet? So why 35, which actually adds more confusion iyo isqabqabsi hadhow? Wasn't it better to just have 12 Ministries ( i still think health and education should have been alone) and say about 8 deputy Ministers for big Ministries. Some Ministries really don'tneed deputies at this stage. Given the small budget, they could have been a bit innovative about this. But at least nearly all the names are new and I think it is a change. Markaa ha loo duceeyo uun. What this floodgate (at late stage ) shows is that the leaders of the government are a bit slow to read the prevailing political mood and are reactive.
  2. Apo, there is no your Vs mine here. We are commenting on Xaaji's story. As far as I am concerned, you are talking about a different problem. That of whether someone has to be outgoing or more reticent etc. That is not the issue. The issue is how the 'avoiding' and 'accomodating' guy should react when they are faced with the Xaaji situation. It comes down to was Xaaji right or wrong looking at the information given in his story. Those who say he should have spoken to the man are not saying, I guess, what the chatty man did was right or they would have done the same. Those who say Xaaji is right also are not necessarily saying they will do that to every guy who asks for little information on direction, time etc. So, don't bring the you are this, i am this into this discussion. Ileen war uma hayside. By the 'Apophisis' of this world, I mean you, Mooge, Oba, Che, and NinYaaban. is it a bit clearer now?
  3. Abwaan, let me behave a bit more gentlemanly. Mooge won fair and square. It shows he was the most interesting character this year. Congratulations to him, and please close the ballots. Mooge also won because he run a very positive campaign. All the attacks from me and Alpha only made him big. I won one year and I am glad SOLers still have some respect left for me. I think Alpha's situation is a bit more complicated. I commisserate with him on this sad day for him. If the ballot is kept open for few more weeks, I think Alpha will make a comeback.
  4. Norf, i have the same feeling. XX to me seems more than what he gives us here. But i am on his case, the Apophisis of this earth may naively take after him on the mechanisms of dealing with benign intrusion. Apophis, avoiding people talking to you is blanking and therefore rude too. Clearly, Xaaji's story was about a man talking to him not someone he could have avoided. If you avoid, and no one talks to, well... it is your choice. It is strange though to me. I don't plan to meet people while travelling, i don't plan to avoid. I see how it turns out and deal with it. In most cases, i don't find people who irritate me. If someone talks me while i am wanted to read or listen to music, i give him some time, exhaust whatever issue he raised (surely not a debate), and then tell him " hawl yar baan rabaa inaan qabsado ee... ama wax baan yar dhageeysanayaa". How you put your excuse also depends on who you are talking to. The key message is unless the other person some offensive things or acted wild, you should make him feel respected and welcomed. It needs few kind gestures from you but it means a lot to our collective joy. But, Apo, i presume you are still dealing with the warts of growth. You belong to what i like to call " what the fck.." generation. Life is about chilling, being cool, scoffing at the others, and i don't give a horse sh.it!!! Tell the peasants off, adeer.
  5. The implied dichotomy between 'thinking for yourself' and 'bending to the collective will' is false.
  6. Ngonge, from amusement perspective Xaaji's arrival in the general section is very welcome. Unfortunately, as he moves from the politics section, this earlier observation must also come to this section. By itself, foolishness is not exactly a crime. Provided it goes camel-herding into the sandy jungles of Hawd and Nugaal. Provided it tills fertile land with brute force in Dilla and Borame. And provided it knows its location and confines. It is not a punishable crime, provided it remains profoundly modest, silent even. With such deportment, it could in fact pass for wisdom. It is when it yells, that it becomes insufferable. It is when it wears the shameless garb of impudence, that it becomes nauseating.
  7. We now know how Xaaji Xundjuf treats chatty strangers, especially when they interfere with his conversation with newly acquired gadgets. These strangers are bothersome, rude, uncivilized or even crazy. According to him. They cannot be honest compatriots just little bit overexcited by the sight of a fellow somali. They cannot be stressed folks from the same soil ventilating some troubling twists of life and therefore badly in need of considerate listeners. They cannot be good-hearted men and women who however are a little bit presumptive about the acceptable etiquettes of the new Somalis. They cannot be wise men who are still adjusting to new moral orders in new lands and therefore passing through a learning phase. No, no. They are lumpen primitives. Even dangerous. Dear SOLers, with that we conclude a glimpse into the contents of the white stuff inside Xaaji Xundjuf's skull. Which makes Omer and Maryan's Hal-Xidhaale the right prescription. Hadal kaa da' waynoo Dib u baadi doontaa Waa xeerka dunidee Deyroow u fiirsoo Cudurkii ku doorshee Dadkuu helana aan dilin Dawo yeelan ii sheeg ??? Xaaji, please answer the Hal-Xidhaale. It is an open book exam. Refer to this song. http://www.heesta.com/hees.php?id=184
  8. He is two scripts away from taking this one!! Kkkkk.
  9. Why are her marwoness Ibtisam and her marwoness Blessed singing for the ostrich when we sing for the camel?? Faarax's bothering woman is an entirely, entirely different matter! Very few will disagree with them on how to deal with daf-daayaal. But if we take that out, is what Xaaji did right?? Maybe he had strong reasons not to want to talk to the man, but he did not tell us. The feeling I got is that Xaaji was busy on his IPAD - loo soo iibiyey - and that is very wrong to me.
  10. Hey Passerby, you are misconstruing my words about the whores of sebatangna! It was deliberate but the intention is to describe your route towards your home - zenebe work, as you should pass by the area I described. Unless it has changed now, it was also a word widely used in our days when people want to say "what upset you today"??? Particularly when they are confused what it could be! So, don't mention wife and whatnot here to make me feel guilty. Your name is passerby and i was picturing you passing by Sebatagna slum on your way! Still, if you did not find the funny side of it, i bow down to my ankles and ask for forgiveness!! Yiqirta wogane. Ewnaten new la ma saadab alnabarem hasaabe; wogan yiqir yibaa baal bakih!
  11. Looooool@mistaking wogane for woyane!! It shows how you are programmed to hate opponents and never to expect good things from them. For you politics comes before humanity. I am not born to hate, and I don't hate you by the way. Unlike you! Apologies accepted and appreciated nonetheless. Tegna baki zare, lik aydhehim! Did the whores of sebatangha upset you today?? They can be bothersome sometimes! I mean when you were passing by. I know you live in zenebe work area of Addis! Little Hutu, what is your problem?
  12. Ay gid yelem zare birille chabitahaal! Maryamin! And I think you have abisho when you touch the yellow honey. By the way is the right reply for wogane ( which i called you despite our political differences) Osman's errand boy? Why do I have to invoke the old adage that a donkey can not send you a thank you card for feeding it ice-cream. It prefers galaba. ...oh I missed that one. You drink siwa?? Hahaha. And then why do brave men who drink siwa (death) nag me online? Emperor Tewodros did it in Maqdella and he died as siwa is not a drink or food but the taste of courageous death?? Your types can't drink siwa. You are boqbaaqa (a bit lower than a coward)
  13. Deleted. I commented on the wrong thread.
  14. ...but that is what I am saying! Has Tizita also become an ONLF and we should fight over it?! Zare ba tena new? Araqe new ways tej? Just read what i wrote, it is the same as what you said. I am saying Tizita is not new, but modern singers do renditions. Of these modern artists, I was saying for me Miki came close! Did you get it now atta wadi chigaram Tigre!

  16. Ibti, salaan sare dear sister. I think you are right but you took the discussion a bit to a man-women encounter. That is entirely a different matter. I thing the issue was about how you react to same sex abrupt interactions. I don't think you will mind if a sister for some reason asks to sit next and talk to you. That is what I was talking about.
  17. Wogane, I did not say Tizita is a modern phenomena. I mentioned it was there even before Bezawork did her rendition. I was talking about which modern artist did well. I know Tizita was as old as the country. Galti is a name given to my folks when they go to jubbaland. He was saying that one can't tell between a somali from my region and Amharas; not Galla-Amhara mix.

  19. Manners do not work with the mannerless! Listen Apophis. You are interested in intellectualized argument on this matter. I am not granting you that for there is no need to do that. Do what pleases you; and I do what pleases me. I am only replying to your harangue because I take myself as an integral member of the community you are disparaging and because I do not subscribe to your overweening sense about own intelligence and enlightenment. I hate to extend the parameters of this meaningless brawl, but how do you know the fellow is "uncouth". Xaaji did not say that, xaaji also did not say the guy asked him which clan he is from as the restless and confused kid from Mahaday suggests?! I am not waiting for an answer from you. Please do as pleases you, but stop forcing your borrowed mannerisms down our Somali throats. Shove it in your hinds if yo want or tell how intrusion is bad to Lady Chatterly, but don't lecture me again!
  20. Haye Xaaji, Tiinaa fiican. Anagu kuwa dadka isku maqiiqa ayaan nahay. But seriously I am losing my temper. Xaaji, let me ask you. Maxaad tahay oo la iskaga kaa maqiiqi. Nin miskiin ah oo ku la hadlay baad ceebeeysanaysaa, oo waliba aad Somali ugu kala tiri naysaa. I tell you, that guy is just unfortunate to have met a person like you.! La isku kay maqiiqayaa kula haa? Hoho! War halkee la isla marayaa?? Widhi... Widh buu yidhi Cabdi Lugeey! Edit- Xaaji, you do not have to say all those things for us to read your chicken mind. It is clear to all what you are if the story you posted is true and you will never expect me to respect you... Here or in real life. You are a small person. Not that you care about my respect, I know that too.
  21. Xaaji, maxaad tidhi?? White people don't intrude aa? So? ... Neve mind. Ok, dadkeena dee sow wali dabadik kuma taalo Xaaji??? So sidaa ma aha Xaalku? Waa aduun nin nool tu walba wuu arki. Waa ninkaan islahaa waa waayo araganagii!!! If the whites don't talk to each other, we don't have to talk to each other. If they fart, we have to fart. ... And we wonder why our girls bleach themselves!? P.S. good to know that perspective but no, mine is different. I have no problem with the mannerism of the west nor the way they live. I am talking about how Somalis should live. And also please calm down, i didn't know you are vulnerable. You have made your point on my long-windedness known. If you can offer advice, i will truely appreciate; but repeating the same point over and over makes you look angry. Inaga daa dee, we don't have to go that way. We can disagree or dislike each other ( which is not the case on my part) but we should tolerate each other.
  22. War ileen tan oo kale! War 4.5 is less than middle distance. Siduu Marathon ku noqday? Meeshan standard geedu ma Mudugian baa? The other day we heard a Nou Camp style comples that costs only 180,000.
  23. Stoic, waad carrab la'dahaye heesta aan kuu saxo. dadka ha iska wayneeyn weeye. But I think it is not that simple. Islawayni almost always goes hand in hand with foolishness. Who are you or what have you achieved or which rocket have you sent to the sky when you are looking down on someone?? There are always millions who are better than you in this world. You don't want them to look down on you. On the xaaji story, what would he feel if someone else treats his overexcited but good uncle the way he did to the man? Dadka. Aad xumaynaysaa they are someone's father, mother, sister, cousin, son or wife or daughter! You don't want any of yours to be treated badly. Again, my useless rethoric again Apo. I guess I am failing in acting like the nice guy. Believe me waa caawa uun. Tomorrow dadkan primitive ka ah, ee dadkeena sophesticated ka ah aan ina fahmayn waan kula garaaci doona, Apo; our resident Aristotle!
