  1. Underdog---appreciate that I didn't get the red card. It's a she btw.

Ok, my boss said today that I was "pretty remarkable at handling stress" :) That was nice. I disagree, because when that fire broke out in the building complex next to us 2 weeks ago (level 5--highest level---some suicidal maniac set himself on fire), I freaked out & lost my composure. My sister, on the other hand, handled it better.

  2. mos def is overrated

    common is overrated

and I hope to God Lupe Fiasco doesn't follow.

ok--I can't totally hate on MosDef, I know he's giving back and collaborating with artists (I most admire) & supporting some much needed initiatives---but then again, I can't help but think he's sorta a sell-out!

  3. Lupe Fiasco---he's muslim, talented, & I'm a fan.

However, ladies & gentlemen, I would say watch out for rising MUSLIM hiphop talents. For starters, check out:

(check their forum for updates, their friendlist is too long to go through)

*to name a few of my favourites.

  4. lol@ trained people, me too! I often warn my teenaged sister never to trust forward information, especially those regarding Islam...so misleading.

  5. once, I gave my all to him.

    my most prized possession.

    my heart.

    my qalb.

    my every

    thought.

    wishes.

    desires.

he was once all I hoped he would be

so he could be my guiding light

    my soldier 4 life

    my supporter

    companion

    my confidant

    he was~~

it's funny how moments are like a fleeting thought

you want to capture it~~~~but it's gone, split second, but it's essence just lingers on for a bit longer, like jasmine fragrance.

    [free styling, they're just thoughts]

  6. love.

    to Chemistry.com, it's biological.

    to traditionalist, it's security [financial].

to shallow minds, it's just physical.

but to some us, the thought of existing without love,

    no,

    it's too unbearable to imagine.

    think.

    it just doesn't register.

without love, we all wouldn't know how to survive this temporary realm.

love guided & took humanity out of darkness.

    the Prophet (pbuh) is love.

    hooyo is love.

    my mentor is love.

and without the mercy & love of God, we would be doomed.

  7. Assalamu Alaikum everyone...just wanted to say Jazakallah 4 sharing. All very helpful tips.

    here's what I do:

    *read the Quran

    *read the Seerah

*listen to lectures by the knowledgable on my IPod.

*attend conferences/workshops at least once a month....ok living here, it's hard to do thathere ---large muslim community very little activity :(

    *visit Islamic blogs/websites.

*soon to come: go back to memorizing the Quran.

  8. Faarax Brown, I have no clue of your FB name! I'm doubting myself b'coz come to think of it I don't remember Farax Brown. At the same time, my memory is in question, I don't know anymore...lol.

  9. Salaams SS, good 2 see u darling. Add me :)

    JB---haha, hi!

Haneefah, still can't believe you joined, just don't be an addict like some of us.

And I think I use to know Faarax Brown, but naaah, couldn't be him, lol.

    whatever happened to MMA?

  10. :( Well I missed the convention this year...except for the last session with Sh.Zaid Shakir....pleasantly suprised that he sang for us!!! (a second time for us during the retreat)

However I did attend the retreat smile.gif What a year!!!! More attendees...and a great time with my girls Haneefah and Ilham (ok girls no more changing screen names, even I get confused who's who sometimes)

I noticed I write less and less each time I visit here..what's up with that??? Anyway, missing the convention was Ok with me this year because the retreat made it all worth it! I got to shop a bit, made new friends, saw some familiar faces! My mind is really blank right now, I'd like to hear more people's thoughts on the retreat/RIS/concert.

    Ma'asalaama.
