  1. ^We all understand the intention behind the crackdown but don't you think the civilians have gone through enough in the last four days. Either way, there is no military solution to this conflict. Dialogue is the only solution.
  2. Don't you guys have any family or relatives in Mogadishu; indeed anywhere in Somalia? The rhetoric is getting a little ridiculous. You guys are bordering on condoning the killing of innocent civilians. I think its about time the title of this forum is changed from SOL to EOL.
  3. This guy is incredible. Macbuudka! He sounds like a two year old who's had his lolly taken away. He damages his reputation everytime he opens his mouth. Presumably, Yey's goal has always been to lead the Somali nation. He has already sacrificied more than any other aspiring leader (i.e. historically) the world over(by allowing a foreign nation to occupy his own) in order to achieve that one goal. Waligaa saan kusoco, doqonimadi ayaad nacasnimo ku darsatay.
  4. The following development doesn't suprise me. There have been rumours that Yey ordered major businesses whom he believes are aiding the insurgency to be hit hard. Today is Suuq-bacaad, tomorrow it will be Bakaraha, the biggest shoppingtown in Mogadishu. Neither life nor property will be save under Yey's (or should i say his master's) plans. Ilaahow Yey iyo gaalada uu wato masaakiinta ka qabo. Madaafiic lala beegsaday Suuq-bacaad Mogadishu 01, April.07 ( Sh.M.Network) Labo ruux ayaa ku geeriyootay inta la og yahay 4 kalena dhaawac ayaa ka soo gaaray markii madaafiic aan kala go' laheyn lala beegsaday Suuq Bacaad oo ah suuqa labaad ee magaalada Muqdisho. Dadka geeriyooday iyo kuwa Dhaawacmay ayaa waxa ay ahaayeen dad garab rarato ah oo alaabo ka rarayay bakhaar ku yaala Suuq-bacaad oo madfac uu ku soo dhacay. Goobjooge la yiraahdo C/laahi Axmed Diiriye ayaa shabelle u sheegay in dadkaan geeriyooday ay ku howlanaayeen rarista Saliid ku jirtey bakhaarkaasi, iyadoo dhaawacooda durba loola cararay Isbitaalada Muqdisho si loogu daweeyo. Waxa uu sheegay in maanta madaafiic aan kala joogsi laheyn lagu garaacay Suuq-bacaad, waxaana ay keentay in dad badan ay ka cararaan halkaasi. Sidoo kale waxa uu sheegay in madaafiic dhowr ah ay ku soo dhaceen xaafadaha, kuwaasi oo geeystay qasaaro naf iyo maalba leh, laakiin wali aan la ogeyn tirada rasmiga ah. Nin ayaa ku geeriyooday madfac ku soo dhacay agagaarka wadada Baar ayaan, iyadoo marxuumkaasi sida la sheegay ii waday alaabo uu ka soo qaatey gurigiisa, isla markaana uu u waday ilmo uu kala qaxay halkaasi.
  5. Inaa Lilaahi Wa Inaa Ilayhi Raajicuun. " What reason could you have for not fighting in the Way of Allah-for those men, women and children who are oppressed and say, 'Our Lord, take us out of this city whose inhabitants are wrongdoers! Give us a protector from You! Give us a helper from You !"? (An-Nisaa,75)
  6. ^His facial expression suggests just that.
  7. ^Somalia and the World would fare better without people like you.
  8. Originally posted by General Duke: Bilaal, there is a resistance to change from a single clan saxib, even their spokesperon uses the name of the larger clan family . I disagree with all things clannish. Ahmed Direi Ali, the so-called spokesman of the certain clan you refer to is someone i totally disagree with. I think the media carries his position as a title to accompany their stories. I think this man does the resistance a disservice. The longer the Ethiopian killing machine continues, the more united the Somali voice will become.
  9. Originally posted by General Duke: [QB] You have lost your stature Bilaal, the clan which you support has been humbled. You are now attacking me, as if my role was that important . I've made it quite clear that i don't support any clan. In fact, i'm not from any of the clans that are supposedly jostling for influence. My contention has always been with the welfare of the innocent civilians and with ending the occupation. Originally posted by General Duke: If I could stop this war I would, however those execusting it will not flinch to destroy the cells of the clan courts & their allies . Stopping the war and giving the innocent civilians some breathing space is also my number one priority. I'm glad to hear that you also hold this view. One thing i don't agree with is that the resistance is merely a clan-based one. This latest escalation was triggered by the Ethiopians; as such the resistance comprises of people from all strands of Somali society.
  10. Suldaanka, not much difference. I have to say, my opinion of Duke has changed in the last few days. I thought he was a rational individual who was supporting the TFG simply becuase of their apparent advancement of the the institutions of government. Its now clear that these institutions are non-existent and even where they do exist, they are not being exercised by a Somali entity but rather by the Ethiopians. Get a grip Duke, stop supporting the massacre.
  11. Somalia: Ethiopian soldiers desert Mogadishu’s outskirt compound Mogadishu 31, March.07 ( Sh.M.Network) The Ethiopian forces stationing around El-Irfid settlement in northern outskirt of the Somalia capital are reported to have abandoned there heading to Afgoie town, 30km south of the city to reinforce the Ethiopian soldiers fighting the insurgents as the Shabelle Al-Adala correspondent reports on Saturday. Residents told Shabelle Radio that the Ethiopian soldiers moved the compound mid last night. The traffic on the road to Balad town which has been blocked over the past week resumed to its normal. But there were fears over that the Ethiopian forces might leave mines on the ground. The road linking Mogadishu to the northern district Balad has been sealed since last week after an Islamist suicide bomber driving car mounted with explosives attacked the Ethiopian barracks killing dozens of Ethiopians. Somali’s government soldiers were left at the compound where the Ethiopians deserted and are also preparing to leave there .
  12. ^How about Abdullahi Yusuf? Care to tell us where he is hiding?
  13. GD - Forget about the day dreams. Respond to the serious allegations levelled against you. On the same forum, a poster by the name of azep accuses you of talking too much " to defend your tribal chief ". Clearly this poster sees you as Somali; and having read many of your posts on SOL and being very familiar with the language with which you express yourself, you have alot of convincing to do. All of the above points to and builds a strong case for the likelihood that you're the poster on EthiopianReview that Suldaanka is referring to.
  14. GD - I want peace as much as you do. My concern has always been with the civilians. Events have entered a whole new phase. Its now civilians who are enduring the indiscriminate bombing from the Ethiopians. The so-called 'president' is on record as saying, that he will not spare Mogadishu's residents. What kind of 'president' speaks in that manner. Shelling of residential areas, as is now underway in Mogadishu, is a grave breach of humanitarian law and a host of other laws that apparently don't apply to us. The international community, as expected, is completely silent. The lightness with which these bombings are taken is abundantly clear when Ban Ki-Moon, not that the UN matters anymore, airs his 'concerns' through an 'associate spokesman'. You'd think that the use of air strikes in residential settings would call for condemnation of the highest order, not a light note uttered through a subordinate 'associate'. There would have been an international outcry if the indiscriminate and use of helicopter gunships underway in Mogadishu were to be happen in any other city on this planet. Why would anyone care, as one journalist put it not long ago, the Somalis are 'darkies', not only that but 'Muslim darkies at that'. In my view, the decision has already been made to massacre the residents of Mogadishu. After Allah, the only thing that lies between Mogadishu's civilians and the Ethiopian killing machine is the resistance. May Allah reward them and lighten their task, for they have come to the aid of a people under siege, while the rest of the World stands by and watches them get butchered. N.B. Stop with the 'clearing terrorists' mantra. This is now a fully-fledged campaign to defend innocent women and children from being slaughtered by a bunch of criminals who have broken all laws and treaties.
  15. ^^Walee adiga iyo waxa kula mid ah waa la inku qasaaray. Somalidu markeey ciyaal u dhashaan, waxaa lagu soo dhaweeyaa aduunayada ayagoo la leeyahay " noqo kii dadkiisa, diintiisa iyo dalkiisa anfaco, aamiin aamiin aamiin ". Adinka waxaan u maleenaa aamiinka ayaa la inkala ilooway. Dadkiina, diintiina iyo dalkiina anfaac iska daaye waxaad kunoqoteen cadow. Acuudu bilaahi mina shaytaani rajeem.

Odayaasha have learnt their lesson. You get into agreements with civilised people, the Xabasha can never be trusted. There are reliable reports indicating that a large number of Ethiopian troops are held up in a stadium, where they spent the night. They are sorrounded and cannot move. The resistance should annihilate them before any reinforcements arrive.

The informants back in Sayid Muhammad Abdille Xasan's time only managed to prolong the conflict but never achieved success. The same disease is once again festering on the horizon. It escapes me now, but there was a great poem by Abdille Xasan lamenting at the fact that there were Somalis helping the British, both in intelligence gathering and also directly partaking in the battlefield. The same is happening today. Although in the minority, the difference with this bunch of traitors is that they have (falsely, unjustly, illegaly) acquired the legitimacy to play on both sides.
  20. ^The people of Mogadishu and the Mujaahidiin will be the final victors. Don't forget that CIA financing and intelligence couldn't stop the last uprising in Mogadishu. The Ethiopian occupiers and their stooges will regret this ill-advised escalation. The resistance is more than capable of keeping the occupiers at bay. May Allah save the innocent women and children caught up in this conflict.
  21. Mogadishu 29, March.07 ( Sh.M.Network) Diyaaradaha Helicopterska qumaatiga u kaca ee dowladda Ethiopia ayaa bar tilmaameedsanaya qeybo ka mid ah magaalada Muqdisho. Labo Helicopter oo ay leeyihiin ciidamada Ethiopia ayaa duulimaadyo hoose ku sameynaya caasimadda Somalia, kuwaasi oo gantaalo la dhacaya meelo ka mid ah caasimadda. Ilaa dhowr gantaal ayay ku tuureen meelo ka mid ah magaalada Muqdisho, iyadoo wali aan la ogeyn qasaaraha dhabta ah ee ay geysteen .
  22. Witnesses: Bombs dropped in Somalia By MOHAMED OLAD HASSAN, Associated Press Writer MOGADISHU, Somalia - Helicopters dropped several bombs Thursday near an insurgent stronghold in Somalia's capital, just hours after a gunbattle killed at least six people, witnesses said. "Two helicopters flew over us. One was making a surveillance and the other one was dropping several bombs," said Qoje Omar Gesey, a resident of the capital. He said the bombs fell near a former market in northern Mogadishu. Earlier Thursday, at least six people were killed in a fresh skirmishes between Ethiopian troops supporting the fragile Somali government and insurgents, residents said. The dead were believed to be civilians. Khalid Mohamed Arabey, who lives near the Mogadishu stadium in the south, said the Ethiopian troops met with stiff resistance from a dozen gunmen, who used rocket propelled grenades, mortars and machine-guns. The Ethiopians responded with artillery and tank shells.
  23. Assalamu Alaykum to you all. I found these videos on YouTube. They are of a young kid giving amazing khutbahs. If someone else has already posted these videos, i apologise in advance for posting them again.
  24. May Allah save the innocent women and children being slaughtered by these disbelievers. Its clear that their ceasefire was unfaithful. They simply used the time to re-group. This should serve as a lesson to all that there can be no negotiations with an occupying force. There can be no peace without first putting an end to the occupation.
  25. Jacaylbaro, thanks for the link. I have to admit that i'm somewhat of an inoccent-soul when it comes to clan politics. That article is an eye opener. The Somali people are truly gifted and resourceful. How did we ever keep our economy going when the same kind of incompetent individuals were in charge of the highest and most important political and civil posts in Barre's era? I have nothing against any clan but i think the time has arrived where only the capable should lead. Ruling classes whether composed of clan (as in the case of Somalia) or based on communist ideology (as in Mao's China), always invite stagnation and eventually rot from within. The Chinese under Deng Xiaoping's leadership have overrturned the ethos whereby bureaucrats got their positions through their adherence and loyalty to Moa's thoughts. These appointees' had no technical training and failed to deliver. Deng came in and brought this practice to an end. Today China is an economic powerhouse and is soon to eclipse the US. It would not have reached anywhere near where it is today had it continued on Moa's path of appointing high ranking posts to loyal allies. I understand that it is not easy to make the connection in comparing Moa's practice of appointing his comrades without due regard to the appointee's suitability for the role to Abdullahi Yusuf's practice of appoiting his closes clan members of late. Mao's loyalty was one of ideology whereas Abdullahi Yusuf's is based on clan relations. Having said that, however, i do believe that there is a link when it comes to the overall economic performance and advancement of the country. Appointing an easily brainwashable individual to fill the post of an Ambassador to the US or even the EU is highly dangerous for the our country. There is an increasing competition among nations for scarce resources. If we keep appointing Ambassadors' who are easily persuaded to go down a certain path by a competing nation either through complete lack of knowledge on a certain policy area or through lack of experience; our nation is bound to suffer. I'm sure the majority of people from Abdullahi Yusuf's clan couldn't care less who rules Somalia as long as its ruled with justice. The base desires of a few power hungry individuals should not be allowed to continue.
