  3. Somalia money trail hits millions, Donations fail to address nation's needs By Katharine Houreld Associated Press Posted May 24, 2011 at 6:56 p.m. NAIROBI, Kenya — Somali politicians are returning from Arab nations with briefcases of cash, and a Somali government watchdog report obtained by The Associated Press found that more than $70 million of it is missing instead of being used to fight terrorism, piracy or hunger. The large cash payments encourage politicians to hang onto power while paying little attention to crucial needs in a country devastated by two decades of war. "Politicians want to keep the status quo. They're profiting from it," said Abdirazak Fartaag, the head of the Public Finance Management Unit, a Somali government body charged with overseeing the country's financial management. In a 22-page report due to be released today, Fartaag documented cash payments that came from Libya, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan and other donors in 2009 and 2010 totaling more than $75 million. Only $2.8 million was accounted for by the government. Fartaag said the Somali government is missing more than $300 million once internal revenues are added to the Arab millions.

  8. Under federal system, a state can open an office in a foreign country (NOT EMBASSY) to represent the interest of the state, like business etc, So Yes, SL under federal has the right to open office in UAE.

  14. I really doubt that will materialize very easily. During India , Pakistan Partition, which was mainly headed by the British Colonials, the partition was a way to extend the control of the colony, (Classic divide and conquer) and the idea of partition was introduced, As history shows, Even Jinah was pro one India, and wanted to use separate Muslim State, Pakistan , as bargaining chip, but what happen was totally different, Both sides lost, After millions died, he could not stop the secession, It went to a point that his speeches in Pakistan were censored. So my point is you don't play with human emotions and start a fire you can not stop, The secessionists will eliminate the so called leaders in SL if they hear joining Somalia.
  15. It is very true that many Awdalites supported SL, and have been part of it, I also know through many friends I have with them, that their support was always short lived, and have SOMALIWEYN at heart, it was tactful decisions, They played the game, supported when Riyaale was president, and left it after he left, I don't think that is right, but it is their decision. This Awdalites are very smart and tactful it reminded me of a poem by Ugaas Nuur Ugaas Rooble who is also from this region. Nin Iidaran by Ugaas Nuur Ugaas Rooble Sida nasoo gaadhay, Ugaas Nuur wuxuu dhashay badhtamihii qarnigii sagaal-iyo-tobnaad, waxayna beeshiisu boqratay isagoon qaangaadhin oo gaban yar ah. Wuxuu geeriyooday billowgii qarnigii 20aad. Ugaas Nuur wuxuu ahaa hoggaamiye-dhaqameed magac weyn ku leh degaanka Boorame iyo Saylac, wuxuuna dhulkaa ka arimin jiray ka hor intaan gumaysigu dhulka Soomaaliyeed qaybsan. Ugaas Nuur wuxuu ka tagay tixo halhays iyo xusuus leh oo nolosha qofka Soomaaliga ah taabanaya. Tixdan hoose oo aad ka fahmi karto garashadiisa siyaasadeed ama diblomaasiyadeed waxaa la odhan karaa waa midda tixihiisa ugu caansan. Wuxuu yidhi: Allahayow nin ii daran maxaan, daafta hore seexshay Nin ii daaqsanayaana maxaan, daafidow kariyey Jidhku nimaanu doonayn maxaan, hadalka deeqsiiyey Ma degdege xaajada maxaan, ugu dulqaad yeeshay Weji dabacsan daymaan dareen, galin dubaaqiisa Debna furan dabuub una ka didin, deexashiyo muuso Qosol dibadda yaal oon ka iman, dhuunta dacalkeeda Kanaan degey kanaan doorka biday, kani dan baan moodey Waxaan dood kaftan ah sheekada, ugu daleeyaaba Dabinkaan u dhigo maalintuu, degelka soo saaro Intiiyoon dawaarka u rogoon, xeeladda u daadsho Isagoon dareen qabin maxaaan, kaga dayaansiiyey
  16. This discussion is heading no where, Allow Sahal amuuraha, Waxba kama soo indha cada! As I said in my earlier discussion, the secessionists are far gone, it has been 20 years, and those born in 1991 are now 20, with some much emotions, and thru mass propaganda, false history, misinformation,There is no turning point. They are afraid and see an invisible enemy, which if they let go of those regions they illegitimately claim, that is coming back to bite them. Can the secessionists not do it alone without those regions? Anigu ka baxay!
