  4. Puntland has handled the terror agent of Al Shabaab in a way thats an inspiratio to the rest of Somalia. The fact that this terror group is led by Reer Hargaysa and is supported in the traingle is troublig to all Somali'as..
  5. The Minister is a loca and as such his position is closer to the truth than those who are from Hargaysa making all this noise..
  6. The Minister is a local on the ground who does not hide his face in public and who has traveled extensively throuought the regions. As for the evidance, its clear that Puntland is putting the heat on the secessionists for their involvement. This is causing a major headache. Their Security Chief & propoganda Minister have started to talk in different languages.
  7. ^^Why should it go as is. Why can it not be changed?
  8. ^^^^Not sure how you know what I have predicted in this forum since you have been here for less than a month? Blood stop talking breeze..
  9. These girls are having a laugh. They knew what they were doing. Probably were dreaming of the big life, driving the cars.
  10. ^^^Adeer I have lived in the West most of my lives, and knew the streets from a youth, but this is heartbreaing. Somali's selling Somali girls, as young as 13. When you see their pictures, wearing the Hijab's they look like any old Farah, any old Xalimo and thats the shocking thing. This was not a random Gang bang, or an isolated incident. This is alleged to be a thriving business in 3 states, and going on for nearly a decade.
  11. Che: Not sure why you think this is soe sort o joke. Some of us have children. In fact the 13 year old girl mentioned is less than a decade older than my own.. This is heartbreaking..
  12. The women played a big role. The indictment provides little detail regarding how they were recruited or coerced, other than to say that one was "enticed" into having sex with gang members before she was turned over to paying customers. Another, who had an argument with her mother and left home, approached one of the women who was indicted -- Hamdi Ali Osman, or "Big Hamdi" or "Boss Lady" -- for help. Osman allegedly told the girl that she would support her with housing and food in exchange for her having sex with customers. The brother-in-law of another defendant said he was shocked to hear of the charges against his relative. "What I believe is he didn't do nothing," the brother-in-law said. "I don't know where this came from." Outside the courtroom where his pregnant sister, Bibi Ahmed Said, had just made her first appearance, Abdi Said denied his sister's involvement in a sex trafficking ring. Bibi Said is charged with attempting to influence the testimony of somebody who was going to testify to the grand jury. Abdi Said said his sister is in trouble because of her husband's gang affiliation, and "some things he did in Tennessee."
  13. A 19 year old is old enough to serve time for his action. Damn them all. Where are their parents? The indictment details the trafficking and sexual assault of four girls – two under the age of 18 and two aged 13 and under at the time of their recruitment. The girls were allegedly taken between Minneapolis and Nashville, where they were sold for sex and forced to have sex with gang members. One of the victims was also taken to an apartment in Seattle and to Columbus with other girls. One of the victims detailed in the indictment was picked up from her high school several times and raped in a bathroom at Northtown Mall in Blaine, Minn. and inside an abandoned garage.

I send my condolences to reer Abdi-Door, to reer Moallim where ever you may be today.. May Allah SWT give you his mercy and lead you to Jannah. May he give all our family and friends strength in this most difficult time..
  15. Its ammusing how a "newby" is addressing a question that was posed to the vetran Nassir. Not sure how important an interview of a sacked man is. If he had issues with the State why does he speak now that there was restructuring of the Police? Those who promised the destruction of the State are now dumb founded and quite.. All we have is hot air, from a man who was too scared to show his face an irrelevent fellow..
  16. Regional leaders are due to hold an emergency summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia this week to thrash out action points to handle the dicey security and governance situation in Somalia. The Inter-Government Authority on Development (IGAD) meeting, at which Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa is representing Uganda, comes amid reported defection of Somali government troops to al Shabaab militants. Security and diplomatic sources say President Sheikh Sharif’s beleaguered Transitional Federal Government is corrupt, deeply divided and unable to pay soldiers and police who get attracted to lucrative offers by insurgents. “There is no proper military command structure and as a result, some of the soldiers either opt to join al Shabaab or sell off their guns and desert,” a diplomat familiar with goings-on in the restive Mogadishu, said. Mr Abdirahman Omar Osman, the Somali government Information minister, in an e-mail interview, admitted defections by their troops but said the problem has now been fixed. “Yes, we had very few of our soldiers defecting in the past due to lack of resources to maintain regular payments and al-Shabaab’s propaganda, in particular how they portray the image of Islam,” he wrote. Presently, international actors are scratching their heads on what to do as mandate of TFG that they have been propping up in power to stablise the Horn of Africa nation runs out, opening the possibility for worse violence. Power struggle Shiekh Sharif’s government, already ruptured by internal bickering and bitter power struggle, under present the arrangement will cease administering Somalia by August 2011. However, anticipated reforms for smooth succession, among which is drafting of a new Constitution, remain wet in the wings. A fall out with President Sharif forced Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke to resign while naming of his successor, Mr Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, whom Parliament approved on October 31, initially unsettled power brokers there. “We are concerned about the continued bickering and internal fighting as well as the mandate of TFG that’s about to expire,” Uganda’s State Minister for International Affairs Oryem-Okello, said. “We have warned leaders in Somalia already,” he added. Uganda helps Uganda contributes the bulk of the 7, 000 foreign troops, otherwise called peacekeepers, guarding key state installations in Mogadishu under the aegis of the African Union. Mr Alberto Merlan, the principal information officer at the European Union Training Mission - Somalia, said on Friday that the first batch of 1, 000 Somali forces whose training in Uganda they are financing, graduate this month at Bihanga Training Camp. “The European Union Training Mission – Somalia will provide specialist training, and support to the recruit training provided by Uganda, up to two thousand Somali trainees in two intakes,” he wrote in reply to our e-mail enquiries. It has emerged that EU and other international stakeholders are in the dark about secret training of about 1, 000 Somalia police officers by Germany in Ethiopia. This week, the United States that has directly and through the UN Logistical Support Package, spearheaded funding for AMISOM operations, called on partners to put in more money to halt Somalia from slipping into a terrorism hotbed. America’s Shs500 support Mr Matt Goshko, the US public affairs officer for the Somalia Unit, said they had since 2007 spent $229 million (Shs526b) on Somalia and Washington remains committed to the Djibouti Peace Process and supports TFG. “We are also broadening our engagement with regional and local administrations, civil society groups, and clan leaders in Somalia who share the same goals of peace and stability.” This newspaper was told both EU and US representatives will attend the IGAD meeting, but as observers.

  18. Nassir adeer, as long as we are all Puntlanders now and the silly man who has been too afraid to show his face is dealt with. By all means talk about structures and changes, but dont delude yourself, the defeat of the Al Shaaab agent and the failure of the secessionists and emotional others has highlighted the strength and depth of the state. How else could it have marshaed such support and Attam become so isolated?

  20. Jailed journalist is freed President Farole said he supports the freedom of the press as ordained by Puntland's constitution and that he "dislikes" unworthy praise of his administration. "I feel uncomfortable when ladies sing my administration's praises," President Farole admitted. "I prefer journalists to tell the whole truth because we don't need praises. History will record who we are." Farole called on Somali journalists, and particularly journalists who work in Puntland, to "chose the righteous side" since there is a war going on in many parts of Somalia. "Balanced reporting cannot be achieved between good and evil. One cannot achieve balance between righteousness and wickedness. One must always choose righteous," President Farole said. He criticized Somali journalists "working for international news organizations" who broadcast reports that threaten Puntland's security. But when these reporters face the law, they "complain that there is no press freedom in Puntland," the president added. "Such reporters want to find asylum in foreign countries. Please, if you seek asylum, do not use Puntland as a justification. Fill out your asylum papers now," Farole said. Puntland's president said the media organizations and journalists should remember to protect the security and stability of Puntland at all times. He warned that "terrorist groups have infiltrated society", and cited government, media, businesspeople, money-wiring companies and telecommunications companies, as examples. "Puntland troops have defeated the insurgents and now is your [media] opportunity to tell the truth and to expose the terrorists who threaten of our security and stability," President Farole said. Finally, Farole said the government of Puntland has "accepted" the appeals of Puntland's media community and that the presidential pardon to release journalist Abdifatah Jama Mire is "on the table." The president used the occasion of the Puntland media conference to pardon Mr. Mire from jail. Mr. Mire was arrested on Aug. 14 in Bossaso after Horseed Media radio station broadcasted an interview with Mohamed Said Atom, a man whom Puntland authorities accuse of terrorism and links to Al Shabaab insurgents in southern Somalia. More than 50 Puntland journalists who attended the conference applauded in unison when President Farole signed the pardon. Mr. Mire was released from jail on Monday. Located in northeast Somalia, Puntland has its own government and has been relatively stable since 1991, as Mogadishu and south-central Somalia suffered waves of clan wars and Islamist insurgencies. Last month, Puntland's rulers declared victory in a war against insurgents led by Mr. Atom, who is on a U.S. and U.N. security watchlist for arms smuggling and links to terror groups. GAROWE ONLINE
