I care because this rocky desert place contains billions of barrels of oil which will make it rise like a 12 year old kid's penis, the name is needed for simple imaging, it sets it apart, you feel me? What do you think of this idea? LMAO post of the day Somalia

The Somali is the consummate greedy, rational, calculating opportunist who will turn in for mere $500 not only any Alshabaab member but also his wife, kids, the family's beloved weershe waxar along with their caarlaawe camel. LMAO

  5. From HOA & Langboy on worldstocks "Dahoor has around 10 potential prospects, if the jessoma is on trend throughout I suppose you could be looking at recoverable reserves of upto 1 billion." "Normally for a well to flow commercially you would need a porosity of at least 8%, if they are saying 18 to 20% this imo is significant and new and if we hit the volume of reservoir on this drill could be highly commercial" but like Moonlight says its not commercial
  6. General Duke;838739 wrote: The second Oil well has Sartre to be drilled. This is great news, remember this project was to drill four wells, two in Dharoor & two in Nugaal. One welcomes this, thanks to Burn Notice for the update.. Well said GD I believe the testing of Shab 1 has been delayed due to security issues and the inability of bringing in the necessary testing equipment...the results from the two wells will be historic like you say this is not about the first 1-2 wells.....an active petroleum system is present so western countriers will be flocking to the region PL will have its day very soon

  9. Somalia;838597 wrote: So is Shabeel North at a lower elevation than Shabeel 1? Shab Nth is smack bang in the middle of the basin between the ENI discovery (Darin 1) and last months HRN "discovery"....or the "sweet spot" if you like check out page 5 Somalia http://www.hornpetroleum.com/i/pdf/2012-04_HRNP.pdf
  10. Horn President and CEO David Grellman stated, “The Shabeel North well will test the same reservoirs that appear to be oil bearing in the nearby Shabeel well. We would expect similar or better reservoir thickness and quality as we move deeper into the basin. The results of this well should help us confirm the extent of the petroleum system in the basin and, if successful, would be another step towards proving the economic potential of the basin.”
  11. June 5, 2012 (AOI–TSXV, AOI–NASDAQ OMX) … Africa Oil Corp. (“Africa Oil” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the commencement of drilling operations on the Shabeel North well in Puntland, Somalia, the second well in the current drilling campaign. The well is being operated by Horn Petroleum Corp. (“Horn”) in which Africa Oil holds an interest of approximately 51%. Horn holds a 60% working interest in the Dharoor and Nugaal Valley Production Sharing Agreements (“PSA’s”) along with working interest partners Range Resources (20%) and Red Emperor (20%). The Shabeel North well is targeting Upper Cretaceous Jesomma sands which had good oil and gas shows in the Shabeel well 3.5 kilometers to the south. Petrophysical analysis of downhole electrical logs in the Shabeel well indicated a potential pay zone in the Jesomma of up to 12 to 20 meters with an average porosity of 18 to 20%. It is planned to bring the rig back to the Shabeel location to test these sands to confirm their ability to flow oil once the drilling of the Shabeel North well is completed. The planned TD of the Shabeel North well is 2400 meters and drilling is expected to take 45 to 60 days to complete. Horn President and CEO David Grellman stated, “The Shabeel North well will test the same reservoirs that appear to be oil bearing in the nearby Shabeel well. We would expect similar or better reservoir thickness and quality as we move deeper into the basin. The results of this well should help us confirm the extent of the petroleum system in the basin and, if successful, would be another step towards proving the economic potential of the basin.
  12. General Duke;832098 wrote: I like that, the new Oil province of the world. Consider that North Dakota has 6600 wells pumping 500,000 b a day. Puntland has one well drilled and millions of b anticipated. It's a huge development one that I a big supporter did not expect. Well said GD Good to see well researched posts based on facts rather than opinionated rhetoric that plagues the BB
  13. The millions of barrels pumped out of Yemen /Saudi's aren't out of one single well..it will take time to unlock the billions of dollars in oil The fact is PL is now the newest oil province in the region
  14. ElPunto;832043 wrote: ^Why did the stocks get hit though - were there whispers of something huge coming out? Or had the companies hyped the results that would be found? The market reaction made it seem as if nothing much was found. Bigger issues at play here IMO HRN AGM end of the month will reveal the true story Plus constitution concerns as discussed previously combined with unrealistic expectations and chaotic financial markets Don't underestimate the significance of this find..watch this space
  15. ElPunto;832035 wrote: Up to 280 million barrels from these 2 wells isn't a huge find. Will these tests allow them to extrapolate reserves for the whole Dharoor block? Presumably a big find in the range of a billion + barrels would have spurred more interest and financing that would be boon for these companies and this region, They will have a far better idea after the second drill It's the first successful drill in the area in 50 years and when you consider that only 1 in 10 drills hit oil I would say it's not a bad start It's just the beginning ...the elephants will be found now that they know they have an active petroleum system present
  16. General Duke;831980 wrote: ^^^Burn Notice, thanks for the update.. Reading between the lines, this project has been a success. Finding Oil in the first well is quite remarkable and now we await the second drilling in Shab Nth.. I remember a time when naysayers used to say there was no Oil exploration at all or that the region was not secure enough. Now its they have found no Oil and the drilling has stopped. We have all come a long way. I believe all issues will be ironed out in the meeting to be held in Addis this week. The signatories to the road map with the international community will all be attending. Top of the agenda are the 36 points that Puntland would like to be revised. Don't believe the hype, its not as bad as some are reporting.. Thanks Duke I'll never understand why PL has so many naysayers..we can already see the tangible benefits the exploration has had on the region which will only exponentially increase as more and bigger companies invest in the country..oh well, let hate consume them while PL gets on with the job at hand that is making a significant difference to the people Good to hear you think things will be ironed out..it's the only issue holding things back IMHO ATB
  17. General Duke;831403 wrote: It's the greatest single project in our recent history & so far so good. All going well Duke Shab Nth is expected to have a bigger payzone as Shab 1 feeds into the structure. Can't help but feel that all parties are downplaying the success of the first drill due to the dispute with the TFG regarding the constitution, specifically articles relating to the management of natural resources that continually keeps popping up The success of these 2 wells will open up the whole region with major oil companies coming in and providing infustructure and employment opportunities to the communities How do you think the impasse b/w the TFG and PL will be resolved?
  18. kingofkings;830819 wrote: With virtually the entire east coast of Africa is found to contain hydrocarbon deposits, the tiny Puntland, which is a nation and yet not a nation, is no exception. Its President Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud Farolez on Wednesday held talks in New Delhi on the recent find in Puntland of large quantity of oil. He invited Indian companies to participate in the exploration and sought New Delhi's cooperation for cha rting out exploration blocks and training Somalis in the petroleum sector. The Puntland region is unique — it seeks unity of the Somali people and adheres to a federal system of government unlike the secessionist region of Somaliland to its west. Puntland is not trying to obtain international recognition as a separate nation. The visit was not due to normal diplomatic exertions. During Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed's participation in the international conference on Somalia in London in February, he met the Transitional Federal Government leadership, Presidents of Puntland and Gulmudug and representatives of other groups. During the meeting, Mr. Farolez expressed his desire to visit India. An invitation was duly extended. Mr. Farolez's official engagements included calls on Mr. Ahamed and Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas R.P.N. Singh, during which he was told that India would favourably consider the proposal for gas exploration and training. With Mr. Ahamed, the President also sought Indian assistance to train his people in the fisheries sector, education, training, small and medium-scale enterprises and issues related to piracy. Facing the twin scourges of piracy and terrorism, Puntland has been able to eradicate piracy activities from key coastal towns, including the former piracy hub of Eyl. The government has deployed anti-piracy forces (the Puntland Maritime Police Force) at Eyl and plans to send the force to other coastal towns. In 2010, Puntland Parliament passed Somalia's first-ever anti-piracy law. Speaking at a public engagement on Tuesday, Mr. Farolez said the Indian assistance was vital to ensure alternative likelihood for coastal communities affected by piracy and illegal fishing and reviving fishing activity that had been disrupted. “ We believe assistance and working partnership between Puntland institutions and the international community, particularly the Indian Ocean region, will be an efficient option to finally defeat piracy.” don't you just love how they have labelled NW Somalia lol
