  1. It makes sense to pay attention to the capital since it's the only region that is totally at the hands of the federal government, and the stability and the economic growth there will expand the influence of the government which in turn will make it easier in the future for Turkey to invest elsewhere. Turkey is a traditionalist, they prefer to deal with a government that resembles them. I'm sure they have an interest in making the Mogadishu the center of power not a week entity in the middle of wrangling federal states.

Khatumites etc,Remember 1988 when you were cheering Abe Siyad's policy of extermination, now the shoe is in otha foot, only difference being you are treated more than equally and yet threatening with all the bad you would inflict upon us.You couldn't do any with siyad's armaments cos you were wrong & can't do any today cos you r absolutely wrong again. It's ok to dream evil but the consequences will be up front with your eyes wide open.Sad saga of somali politics in last 40 yrs squarely rests upon you and CO.

Now keep rewriting history with the much familiar words...."nothing happened & no one was meant to be uprooted!!!!"

People like you is what makes me not to take Somaliland's aspirations for independence seriously. You were victims of a brutal regime and despite that your militias committed horrendous crimes on your march to the east in eastern Sanaag. I usually see this blood thirsty tribalism in other forums, we need be better than this.

^^And the reason pirate boys are never going to be allowed to become Somaliland citizens is that they are cowardly ninnies with a thieving mentality at best; and at worse they are the remnants of the legendary "defeated lot" of the Somali history.

Classy. What will prevent the eastern regions of Somaliland from demanding reunification with Somalia (although it's becoming less attractive by the day), the integrity of British Somaliland is not a foregone conclusion.

  4. A Somalia wide referendum is not logical, but even allowing a referendum in Somaliland will be a Pandora box in Africa and open the door for many secession movements that have bigger grievances than Somaliland. Even a framework for a referendum could prove very complicated and and make it impossible especially in the eastern regions. I find the idea quite ludicrous.

this will be utter disapointment in Silanyo adminstration if they attend it.No matter what excuse they can come up with nothing will beat attending a confrence chaired by Somali president! So for Somalilanders get ready, there's a train a comin' You don't need no baggage, you just get on board .All you need is faith in Silanyo adminstration and you just thank the Lord.....haha

You set yourself up for disappointment if you view things that way. In your view If Somaliland chooses to attend the conference chaired by the Somali president then they are debasing themselves, but what will happen if they don't attend. Don't you think (especially after this meeting) that you're risking marginalizing yourself further and alienating an important diplomatic power. People love looking at things in terms of symbols instead of substance.

Our competition isn't with each other

This is some idealistic claptrap, the behaviour of the Somali people around the world and inside Somalia leads me to believe that tribalism is inherent and competition between ourselves is inevitable. That's why I prefer a federal system, let federal states compete ( though I think they should compete in more worthwhile matters not presidential palaces) let them compete in infrastructure, education, safety and industry. You see this competition everyday here, between Somalilanders and other Somalis, between Puntlanders and other southerners. I hope that one day we will evolve to be more cooperative , but competition is better than nothing.

    3. Somaliland represents all those regions since the Somali government did not demand that the distinction be made before agreeing to sit for talks.

You can't arbitrarily claim that Somaliland represent Eastern Sanaag and Khatumo. Those regions didn't hold elections and are not directly represented in the Somaliland parliament. You can claim sub sub clan out of nowhere claiming allegiance to whoever is paying them money but if you think that the people of that region will have no say in their future, you are greatly mistaken. I find it hypocritical of Somalilanders to want self determination but refuse it to others. Not that I think secession will happen anyway.

Legend most regions in SL are all shared there is no region in SL where one clan or sub clan clearly is the majority.

That's not true. If you conduct a referendum based on tribal lines say Maakhir, Khatumo, Awdal, and the rest of Somaliland you can see a huge chunk of

Somaliland choosing a union with Somalia. I thought you accepted a village by village referendum.
