    I blv there was no opposition from the USC up until they reached Afgoye.The reason I blv had something to do with infighting within the USC and as such the easy march from the kenyan border all the way to Afgoye.Siads forces had painted their cars with ruug cadaagi so rogal celi and after doing the Abdi Bile back to kenya waxa loogu qorey raamsadaa helay

    Bile ha daacin ee bal is yar deji sxb.I never said that nor do I intend to say that.There were some very young and bright nationalists on both sides who were hell bent on creating a viable and just union of the 2 parts but their intentions were derailed by oppurtunistic folks who twisted the whole union.The glory huggers in my book were those oppurtunistic folks who went on to lay claim to the noble union.Unfortunately the men who worked tirelessly to ensure that the union took place at any cost are never mentioned in any history book.Their sacrifice and patriotism goes without mention and yes they were both southern and northerner if that makes you happy.....

    History especailly that of Somalis is a very tough topic to cover partly because its based on individuals with very distorted recollections of events leading up to the union of the 60's.If you ask a northerner what part contributed to the union of Somalis they will say the North was responsible for it and similarly the Southerns will lay claim to it with the SYL at the forefront of the union.Wax kasta been ha laga sheego but one thing is clear,it was the Somaliland politicians led by Cigaal who made several trips from Hargeysa to Mogadisho in 1959 that facilitated the eventual union between Italian Somaliland and British Somaliland.The rest in my book waa aabo yidhi iyo adeero igu yidhi.....

    I think you are forgetting how far back the North was before the civil war compared to the rest of Somalia.If you look meesha eey maanta mareyso iyo meeshey tagneyd under the last recognized govt of Somalia and add the war and devastation that took place into the equation it will amase all.However comparative haddi aad ka dhigtid sheekada I believe Awdal is right on track to compete equally with any other state within Somaliland and that is in large part to its citizens just like Hargeysa.The one state I feel has been neglected long is Sanaag the largest state in terms of land in Somaliland.Taasna dadkeeda ayey u taalaa in eey ka tashaadan just like they have done in Hargeysa and Awdal.

    As far as the issue of Somaliweyn goes I think xikmad Ilaah baa tidhaa qofna ma badelmo as long as they are not willing to change.Folks in the north have chosen a path to peace and similarly I wish for the folks in the South to choose the same but its highly unlikely for someone from the North to impose that on them so long as it does not come from within their hearts.The day they choose to live in peace then thats the day when Somalis can talk of things like unity but till that day comes I believe Somaliland is better off where it is.

    If you feel Awdal is missing out on its share of the national pie I think the blame lies on none other than his Excellency Mudane Madaxweyne Dahir Riyaale.He is after all from there and he does the budget allocation every year :D

    The govt in Somaliland does not build anything except their personal bank accounts.They are a bunch of corrupt lazy foools who use the money they collect from the masses to build their own personal wealth.Unfortunately that is the simple truth,whatever little development you see is from the diaspora.I cant even remember what this government did that is worthy of mentioning here.There is no roads they built,no bridges rehabilitiated by them,matter of fact the money given to them by the UN agencies to build 5 bridges on the Hargeysa-Berbera highway 3/4 of that money was misappropriated by them.Awdal isnt the only province left in the dark as a result of a corrupt govt,its the whole of Somaliland that is suffering.
