  1. The image of Somalia for the outside really saddens me. That even a white suburbian kid thinks he can take over our country. This is not good, mates.
  2. Maybe it sounds naïve, but I think we Somalis should lay the bloody past to rest. Let bygones by bygones and move on. Every Somali clan has some lads to point it's fingers at. Everybody is agressor as well as victim, notwithstanding that some clans are clearly stronger than others. Remember! as Rahima pointed out, it's a man-made court. Hence, the judge needs substantial evidence beyond a reasonable doubt to even lift a finger at the defendant. Most likely the plaintiffs will not get what they want. No justice nor revenge.
  3. JB, don't become a donkey for Xarago and her likes.
  4. Can Anbody Analyze This? It Needs a History Professor By Mohamed Omar Bashir Abraham Lincoln was elected to congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to congress in 1946. Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. Both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both wives lost a child while living in the White House. Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head. Now it gets really weird. Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln. Both were assasinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. John Wilkes Booth, who assasinated Lincoln, was born in 1839. Lee Harvey Oswald, who assasinated Kennedy, was born in 1939. Both assasins were known by their three names. Both names are composed of fifteen letters. Now hang on to your seat! Lincoln was shot at the theatre named "Ford" Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln" made by "Ford" Booth and Oswald were assasinated before their trials. And here's the "kicker" A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland. A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe. And Lincoln was shot in a theatre and the assasin ran to a warehouse. Kenndy was shot from a warehouse and the assasin ran to a theatre.
  5. Raula, you're correct my dear. iid ul fitr is tomorrow. Saudi television confirmed it. iid is on the 13th.
  6. Raula, did you just say iid mubarak? You mean iid ul fitr is tomorrow instead of the day after!
  7. I totally agree Raula, saving Og Girl doesn't mean Bari Nomad needs to be crushed. He didn't deserve it. I'm certain he didn't mean it in a dishonourable manner. Some people here created a problem that didn't have to occur. This is an embarrassement to all of us. Anyhow, I feel like my thread has been hijacked!
  8. I got three words for you Juma. Bring it on! My lawyer is very very good. He is so good, that by the time he's done with you. You'll be peeling potatoes somewhere in Cambodia.
  9. Some people never cease to amaze me. I'll provide a list of the different species of apes, let's analyze my political agenda then. It should be interesting, I reckon.
  10. Lol Juma, very funny. Even more humerous is how a normal person would see this as good news. I mean it certainly must be good news to the Slanders, I reckon. After all their soldiers are being treated well, yet people here see it as an offense. why? Think about their families for God sake. And I must admit, to the Planders it's good news too, their 'side' is not making the same mistakes as some Somalis did in our past. I reckon some of you are so blinded by hatred, that you are focusing on that last one. It's a win-win thread, yet I keep forgetting I'm dealing with Somalis. Gerald Hanley was wrong, some Somalis are as ignorant as you can get. I will post the torturing and executions of POWs next time, even though I hope I'll fail to find such. But you lads seem to love it by the pound.
  11. Raula, perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I meant it's heartwarming to see Somalis have matured through the years from raping women to treating POWs they way they deserve to be treated. As humans. I perfectly understand it, if you took the wrong assumption on my remark. My apologies for that, but be easy on "ya rabi-alaahu manajeyna". It's not a sentence appropriate in a cyber discussion where one does not know the other. Just look at the Sland POWs, they even have brandnew clothes and they're smiling. I wish I could say the same about the Pland POWs in Sland.
  12. I find these pictures to be heartwarming to any Somali to say the least. captured Sland soldiers in Garowe, Nugal: Prison commander:

  14. In a continent where countries forgave their opressors and chose to live side by side. In a continent where peoples have commited genocide in the millions on each other, but still embraced each other and forgot the past. In a continent where most countries respect the freedom of speech. In a continent where most countries understand you cannot force people to stick with you, if you are seceding yourself. In a continent where countries deal with hundreds of peoples, languages and cultures and still live in harmony......... Sland doesn't deserve to call itself the pride of Africa, but it should call Africa the pride of Sland.
  15. Well Sophist, as Fyr Kanten clearly stated, the missiles were brought by the Sovjets and managed by them. The Somali government had virtually nothing to do with the military hardware of the late Sovjet Union. However most of the mines were left behind by the 26th sector of the SNA Somali National Army based in Hargeisa that was commanded by Gen Abdiaziz Ali Barre. I have to find some information on the net to back this up, but the bulk of the mines laid in North West Somalia to damage the mobility of the SNM was under the reign of Gen Abdiaziz Ali Barre.

  17. It looks like General Siad Barre's wrath is still present in Sland. I wish success in the completion of demining for the Slanders.

President Yusuf shaking the hand of Yemen's vise-president Abdi Rabbo Mansur Ismael Haji Warsame, President Yusuf's personal advisor with Yemen's VP. Foreign minister Abu Bakar Al Qarbi meeting President Yusuf. Source: Althawranews.net Refugees, Somaliland part of talks:Somalia in spotlight - Monday, November 08, 2004 at 08:43 San'a, 08.11.04 - Somali President Abdullah Yusuf arrived in Sana’a Saturday morning in an official visit to Yemen. The Somali president The visit included discussions about the Horn of Africa and bilateral relations between Somalia and Yemen. This is Yusuf’s first visit to Yemen since he was elected as the president of the 13-year war-torn country. President Yusuf held talks with President Ali Abdullah Saleh after he was received at the airport by Vice President Abdo Raboo Mansour Hadi. Yusuf’s talks with Saleh focused on the situation in Somalia as well as on potential mechanisms which could support Somalia on the international and pan-Arab levels and through bilateral cooperation with Yemen. President Saleh reaffirmed Yemen’s official stance in support of President Yusuf’s efforts to maintain the unity of the country and help it stabilize and develop economically. Yemen already asked the Arab League to set up a fund to support the reconstruction of Somalia in an attempt to help breathe life into this country which was devastated by long years of internal conflict. Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi told Yemen Times that Yemen’s role in the efforts of reconciliation between the fighting groups is significant. He mentioned that efforts were exerted to energize talks between Somali factions prior to the set-up of the Somali parliament and the president’s election in Nairobi two weeks ago. He pointed out that the security and stability of Somalia is key for the security of Yemen and the entire African Horn region. Somaliland discussed However, reliable sources told Yemen Times that the talks also focused on the efforts made by Yemen to have an agreement reached between the Somali government and the government of Somaliland, the self-proclaimed Republic in the north that claimed independence after the eruption of the civil war in 1991. However, Somaliland is still not officially recognized by the international community. Yemen intends to play a part in securing an agreement between Hargeisa and Mogadishu despite the fact that the Somaliland insists on remaining as an independent state that will continue to seek international recognition. In an effort to break the isolation imposed on this territory which has been quite stable and more secure than the south, Ibrahim Othman Yousuf, a prominent figure and investor from Somaliland, was sent by the President of his state Dahir Rayale to Yemen last October with a letter presented to President Saleh urging him to exert more efforts to have direct trade links with Somaliland. “There are many possibilities and potentials in cooperation between our two states. I am not demanding that Yemen recognized Somaliland as an independent state but rather to at least help the Somali brothers in this part of the country develop their standard of living by providing them with the means to boost their country’s economy,†Mr. Ibrahim said in an interview with Yemen Times previously. “The fact that Yemen doesn’t recognize Somaliland as an independent state doesn’t mean we cannot work together for the mutual benefit of both parties.†he added. Focus on refugee issues Another key issue that Saleh and Yusuf discussed was the question of the flood of refugees to Yemen. Reports recently found out that hundreds of refugees flood to Yemen from Somali on a daily basis, most of them illegally. This has exacerbated the economic situation in the country. Yemen had said many times in the past that it finds it very difficult to accommodate hundreds of thousands of refugees in the absence of a real contribution from the international community to this humanitarian plight. Government reports said that there are over 600,000 Somali refugees settled in various parts of Yemen while the UNHCR says there are around 60,000 only. Government officials blame the UNHCR for not being able to accommodate the rest of the refugees scattered in various cities in the camps set in some southern governorates like Lahj and Abyan. Yemen security officials repeatedly complained from the illegal infiltration of refugees from the African Horn countries as it was found that there are some gangs involved in trafficking refugees to the Yemeni shores for relatively high amounts of money. Several refugees die in their voyage to Yemen or even get killed by the traffickers themselves. The Yemeni authorities have openly stated that one of the motives to stabilize Somali will help bring the refugees back home as the Yemeni authorities have begun to worry about the future of the Somalis who might become a minority on Yemeni land. Yemeni authorities have even started drafting a law to regulate the situation of the refugees but the cabinet has not passed the law. Furthermore, the international community showed concern over arms smuggling between Yemen and Somali, which might be used by al-Qaeda militants. A UN report issued last year raised the international concern over the illegal arms trade between Yemen and Somalia, which was accused by the US of harboring al-Qaeda militants. “We have strong brotherly and historical ties with Somalia and by attending this occasion, we affirm our stance towards the Somali people to keep their security, independence and unity,†said President Saleh in the Kenyan capital where Abdullah Yusuf Ahmed was sworn October 10th. Call for help We call on the international community and Arab states to help the Somali government to rebuild Somalia to enable it to take its role in the Horn of Africa for the sake of comprehensive peace in the region,†said Saleh. Yemen’s president also asked the United States, the European Union and other donor countries to provide the necessary financial support to rebuild Somalia which has been in a civil war for the last 13 years. “We call on the United States, the European Union and all other donors to offer prompt help to Somalia so that it can restore stability and security,†Saleh said. 19. His English is even more tragic. As if the queen herself potty trained him.
  20. How on earth did you wind up in an extremely rightwing Isreali website?
  21. My uncle Omar Ma'alin called him as he told me in his emails that he worship 3 things starts with "M" you can give a guess enlighten me Og girl! I'm a disaster when it comes to guessing.
  22. I condemn somalitalk for publishing the girl's picture. Rahima, your crooked way of debating by firing back shots, dodging, reversing etc to manipulate the idea of you being the victor of the agrument truly appals me. Just say you were wrong with: The topic has been done to death; i don't know why it keeps coming up. have mercy! Coming from a man who defended the actions of people who collaborated with the gaalo- this is amusing. what the! That means people who supported the Somali liberation movements such as SSDF, SNM are gaalo-collaborators? The RRA whom freed their people from the evil Aidid are gaalo-collaborators? I’m sure the pendulums of hypocrisy and inhumanity are swung both ways- you are choosing to see one side. true! that goes for you too! Why should it be restricted to the case of Samsam? Are you now trying to be funny? Because I do not understand? I'm sure there are similar stories of inhumanity and hypocrisy, but thank-god not everyone is going for this tit-for-tat game where the actual cause is lost somewhere in the middle and the suffering of the innocent is used as shots. you must be sharp! concluding all this without proof all by yourself? Magician perhaps? You are allowed to reply to me, but don't make me reply back. With rahima, there's just no winning.
  23. The interviews on Radio Daljir are just way too long. By the way we should have more people like prof. Togane. Somalis should be honest, instead of acting like their nose bleeds. Many Somalis act like they don't even know the clan they hail from, yet talk pure clan rubbish at home among trusted family and friends. He's honest when he talks about clans and aims to show the Somali people we are all stuck with each other wether we like it or not. He's right about that and I like him.
  24. The name of Somali-life is banned for some reason or another? I reckon fierce competition eyh?
  25. Somalis have almost no non-clan based websites, except for those whom are concentrated on forums and isbarasho like Somalia Online, Somalinet, ********** and SomaliUK just to name a few of these sort. Yet Somalis give a great importance into newswebsites. Mostly because Somalis living abroad cannot follow news about Somalia or world news in Somali in western media. And partly because Somalis are curious to what's happenning by nature. It's in our genes. Even the most isolated Somali nomad was listening to news on the radio as far back as the 30s. So the following review might be interesting to some people here, whom undoubtedly in the politics section browse the different Somali websites for news. These are the following most frequented websites: 1- Somalinet.com Somalinet is the largest and most succesful website on the net. Started in the late 90s by entrepreneur Abdirahman N. Usman. A descendant of Sultan Kenadid. Somalinet is agreed by all Somalis to be unbiased and fun. Has a newssection that has reuters as a source. An own magazine, yet not as popular as Pace. But unchallenged when it comes to their forum and isbarasho services. Yet the forum is low of quality, since it lacks sufficient supervsion. Somalinet used to have a homey feeling for their members before Snet changed it's layout in phpbb style. http://www.somalinet.com 2- Somalia Online Somalia Online is a forum-based website. And a very good one also. It's ex-members whom were banned from this site, find a new home in Snet. Most outsiders and perhaps insiders of SOL, view SOL as a bit too strict. But with it's strictness it has earned a higher status than other Somali forums, since it's members are seen as a collection of intellectual dhalinyaro. Especially those in the politics and camel milk sections. http://www.somaliaonline.com 3- ********** .com The only serious competitor against Somalinet. The difference is; ********** is focused on isbarasho where Somalinet derives it's fame from it's forum. famous of it's members posting their photos and profiles. Somalis knowing, without protection of the photos it would be a disaster waiting to happen. And it did. After incidents where Somalis copied the pictures of their worst enemies on ********** . They would do horrible things with the picture. Fortunately, the board of ********** is now precautious with the pictures of their members. http://www.********** .com/ 4- Hiiraan Online Hiiraan Online is seen by most Somalis as one of the most unbiased Somali newswebsites. Though, not all Somalis can find a home in this website. As it names states, it's partially based upon a certain region therefore kin. It's therefore not surprising that they didn't hide their support for Abdullahi Ahmed Addow. Abdiqassim's Arta was broadly given attention too, even though Arta was seen as morbid. Still, seen as reasonable and reliable. http://www.hiiraan.com/ 5- Allpuntland.com One of the largest and known newswebsites on the net. Founded by a man called Yusuf A. Ahmed. His name is for anti-Abdullahi Yusuf a confirmation of being an Abdullahi Yusuf mouhtpiece. Far from true this man comes from Copenhagen, Denmark. Number one in broadcasting Pland news and in the top when it comes to fresh news. Among Planders viewed as the counterpart of the numerous opposition Plander websites. Has a damaged reputation as an Abdullahi Yusuf mouthpiece. But is never caught with inaccurate news. Just discovered the importance of English news and collumns. http://allsomalianews.com/news1/in.asp#Scene_1 6- Awdalnews.com Seen as one of the best newswebsites. Fair and balanced. Remarkable to be a website with no advertisement banners what so ever. Very pro-Somaliland. Owned by a Somali atheïst named Bashir Hashim Good, who Anglocised his surname into Goth. Among Slanders seen as extremely pro-UDUB. Not surprising, the ruling party UDUB after all has brought the Awdalians the trophy of the presidency. Very quiet about Dahir Riyale Kahin's mistakes and incompetence. http://www.awdalnews.com/ 7- Dayniile.com This website is so undisciplined and outspoken, it's beyond funny. Self declared mouthpiece of Mogadishu warlord Muhammad Qanyare Afrah who controls the district of Dayniile. Dayniile had to admit inaccurate news nurmeous times, in the form of rectifications. Though it is very fast in providing news and has unqiue pictures sometimes. http://www.dayniile.com/ 8- Somaliland.org This the most popular Slander website and not surprising actually. Very honest website (unless with Pland-Sland issues) and owned by journalist Abdirisaq Dubad. Excellent when it comes to proving editorials and opinionated letters. Within Sland cicrles seen as a bridge between the different Sland political entities. Yet seen as viciously anti-UDUB and pro-Kulmiye. http://www.somaliland.org/ 9- RadioLascaanod.com A very extremist pro-Pland website. A website rather seen leaving than coming by Slanders. Seen by Planders as the true voice of the SSH, Sool, Sanag and Hawd Somalis. Owned and lead by Ismael Ibahim Du'ale from the UK. Calls Sland bashingly by the main tribe's name, with the view that there's no Sland without them. Very excellent in reporting news in the aforementioned regions with high-quality pictures. Sometimes too extremist in their own sense. http://radiolascaanod.com/ 10- Somaliweyn A website based on providing opinionated letters. Very unbiased and balanced. Lost pro-Abdullahi Yusuf Plander's trust after nominating a well-known Abdullahi Yusuf basher called Abdiwahid Khalif as the best Somali writer on the net. I agree that he's the best Somali writer. He always uses Qur'anic verses or stories from the prophet SCC's ashabta to strengthen his opinions. Ironically claiming to be the kin of Abdullahi Yusuf, the subclan from Upper Mudugh. That was comically disputed by many, where he posted his genealogy to that subclan's patriarch on the net. Somaliweyn was central to this controversy. Very fair, but suffers from the reputation of being an old Somali man's website. http://www.somaliweyn.com/
