An evening of poetry and prose from two emerging writers of Somali origin - Warsan Shire and Diriye Osman.

 

The descent of Somalia into civil war in the early 1990s and the subsequent waves of migration that followed created some of the most travelled, adaptable people in the world.

 

African Writers' Evening presents Warsan Shire and Diriye Osman, who read poetry and prose that have a shared heritage stitched within them. It's a heritage of shape-shifting, migration, being the outsider, and survival against all odds.

 

Hosted by Nigerian poet and playwright Inua Ellams.
