Mogadishu residents rebuild after violence

Recommended Posts

Years of violence have left their mark on the Somali capital of Mogadishu.

But a recent offensive by African Union troops and soldiers from Somalia's Transitional Federal Government has forced most of the al-Shabaab rebel fighters out of the city, creating some space for much needed economic development.

Traders and families have begun moving back to rebuild lives deeply affected by al-Shabaab's siege on the city.

Very Positive.

unlike somaliland, somalia has always been state-centric. if people (civil society) took the initiative and made efforts to reconstruct their broken society, its possible that peace, security and stability will be achieved as all have a vested interest in it. I suppose, expecting the government to deliver these conditions is not conducive to somalia's future.
