Depuis 1992, sous l’impulsion de son président historique, feu Ahmed Dini, le FRUD a reconnu sans ambiguïté le droit du peuple somalilandais à l’autodétermination et à l’indépendance. Cette position est constante et inchangée.
Le FRUD actuel, communément appelé FRUD-Armé, héritier direct de la plus ancienne organisation démocratique djiboutienne fondée en août 1991 et portevoix des aspirations profondes du peuple de Djibouti, réaffirme son soutien indéfectible au peuple somalilandais dans sa quête de souveraineté et de reconnaissance internationale.
Notre solidarité n’est ni symbolique ni conjoncturelle. Elle s’inscrit dans une histoire partagée de résistance face aux régimes oppressifs, aux injustices structurelles et aux ingérences extérieures qui cherchent à étouffer les volontés populaires.
Depuis plus de trente ans, le Somaliland a prouvé sa capacité à bâtir un État stable, démocratique et résilient dans une région ravagée par les crises. Cette réussite politique dérange les régimes autoritaires, notamment celui de Djibouti, qui s’enfonce dans la répression et la violence d’État — allant jusqu’à utiliser des drones contre la population civile— tout en exportant ses provocations et ses manipulations chez ses voisins, y compris au Somaliland et en région Afar d’Ethiopie.
Le FRUD dénonce fermement ces ingérences irresponsables, ces tentatives d’intimidation et ces manœuvres de déstabilisation orchestrées depuis Djibouti.
Aucun régime clanique ne pourra confisquer l’avenir des peuples de la région.
Nous le rappelons avec force : les peuples sont souverains. Ils ont le droit inaliénable de choisir leur destin, de défendre leur dignité et de refuser toute domination. À ce titre, nous nous tenons résolument aux côtés du Somaliland, comme nous nous tenons aux côtés de tous les peuples qui luttent pour leur liberté. Mohamed Kadamy Président du FRUD

Since 1992, under the leadership of its historic president, the late Ahmed Dini, the FRUD has unequivocally recognized the right of the Somaliland people to self-determination and independence. This position remains constant and unchanged.
The current FRUD, commonly known as FRUD-Armé, the direct heir of Djibouti’s oldest democratic organization, founded in August 1991, and the voice of the deep aspirations of the people of Djibouti, reaffirms its unwavering support for the Somaliland people in their quest for sovereignty and international recognition. Our solidarity is neither symbolic nor circumstantial. It is rooted in a shared history of resistance against oppressive regimes, structural injustices, and external interference that seek to stifle the will of the people.
For over thirty years, Somaliland has proven its capacity to build a stable, democratic, and resilient state in a region ravaged by crises. This political success disturbs authoritarian regimes, particularly that of Djibouti, which is sinking deeper into repression and state violence—even using drones against the civilian population—while exporting its provocations and manipulations to its neighbors, including Somaliland and the Afar region of Ethiopia.
The FRUD strongly condemns these irresponsible interferences, attempts at intimidation, and destabilization maneuvers orchestrated from Djibouti. No clanbased regime will be able to confiscate the future of the peoples of the region. We reiterate forcefully: the people are sovereign. They have the right to choose their destiny, to defend their dignity, and to reject all forms of domination. As such, we stand resolutely with Somaliland, as we stand with all peoples who struggle for their freedom.
