President Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro emphasized the importance of strengthening good governance, administrative efficiency, and national unity as Somaliland prepares for a new phase of international recognition.

Speaking during a meeting with Directors General of ministries and independent agencies, President Irro described the current moment as historic, stating that Somaliland has established democracy, good governance, and visible development across society, surpassing many countries in the region.

He highlighted the sacrifices of the Somaliland people, noting that “history has acknowledged that the people of Somaliland sacrificed their blood and ink to defend the nation, its honor, and its existence.”

The President stressed that world progress does not occur randomly but through a state system based on justice, good governance, and the supremacy of the law. He urged officials to abide by enacted laws to avoid disputes and inefficiencies.

Addressing the Directors General as the “engine of work” in government institutions, President Irro reaffirmed their responsibility for implementing policies, laws, and decisions, delivering services to the public. He called for resolving any disputes between ministers, directors general, deputy ministers, and undersecretaries strictly through national laws and systems.

President Irro announced that Somaliland is now officially recognized for its achievements in democracy and development, leading Somali-speaking communities and regional countries in these areas. However, he cautioned that “we cannot say that everything is complete for us,” emphasizing the need for continued efforts to finalize ongoing developments and seize future opportunities.

With expanding international relations and partnerships expected following recognition, the President directed every ministry to prepare for managing these growing ties effectively.

He also underscored the government’s commitment to full transparency, efficiency, and the prevention of corruption, negligence, and abuse of power.

Concluding his remarks, President Irro highlighted the importance of adhering to working hours, stating that every employee—from the President to the lowest staff—must comply with the legal requirement of at least 8 hours per day, with strict monitoring to ensure national development progresses through dedicated service.
