Riyadh (PP News Desk) — Saudi Arabia has issued a strong statement and  expressed disappointment with actions taken by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in southern Yemen. “ The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expresses its disappointment by the actions taken by the brotherly United Arab Emirates, pressuring the Southern Transitional Council’s forces to conduct military operations on the southern borders of the Kingdom in the governorates of Hadramout and Al-Mahara, which is considered a threat to the Kingdom’s national security, and the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen and the region” reads the statement.

Saudi Arabia emphasised that any threat to its security is a “red line” and warned it would take all necessary steps to protect itself. The Kingdom also criticised the movement of ships carrying weapons and armoured vehicles to the port of Al-Mukalla “without approval from coalition forces.”

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its support for Yemen’s unity, sovereignty and government. It said the conflict in the south can only be solved through dialogue and a political solution involving all Yemeni parties.

The Kingdom called on the UAE to withdraw its forces from Yemen within 24 hours and to stop all military and financial support to armed groups. It also said it hopes relations between the two countries can be preserved.
