Trump goes nuclear on Somalis. Somalis have never faced this kind of attack

President Trump is facing increasing criticism over his attacks against Somali immigrants, particularly in Minnesota.

In recent weeks, the president has blasted the Somali population, stating “hundreds of thousands of refugees from Somalia are completely taking over the once great State of Minnesota.” During a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Trump went after Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), calling her “garbage.” He also said that he didn’t want Somali immigrants in the U.S. and that Somalia “stinks.”

“I don’t want them in our country, I’ll be honest with you, OK,” the president said. “Somebody said that’s not politically correct. I don’t care.”

“His obsession with me is creepy. I hope he gets the help he desperately needs,” Omar responded on the social platform X Wednesday.

Omar, who earned her U.S. citizenship 25 years ago after escaping a civil war in Somalia as a child, also told The Hill’s sister network NewsNation on Tuesday, that the Somalis “are not, and I am not, someone to be intimidated, and we are not going to be scapegoated.”

“We are here to stay,” she said.
