It is with deep national pride and heartfelt conviction that I extend my sincerest commendation and congratulations to President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro) on the success of his recent diplomatic mission to Kenya. This pivotal moment not only elevates Somalilandโ€™s presence in East Africa but also reinforces our emerging role as a legitimate regional and international actor. His meeting with President William Ruto reflects the maturity of our diplomacy and our enduring commitment to regional integration, strategic economic cooperation, and sovereign engagement with the global community.

Of particular significance is the official inauguration of the Somaliland Mission Office in Nairobi; a bold and visionary step that signals the deepening of Somalilandโ€™s foreign engagement. This diplomatic outpost will serve as a vital platform for strengthening economic ties, encouraging bilateral investments, advancing cultural diplomacy, and building relationships across political and commercial sectors. The opening of this upgraded mission is more than symbolic; it is a milestone achievement that underscores the legitimacy and foresight of President Cirroโ€™s administration.

Furthermore, the Presidentโ€™s wide-ranging engagements with Kenyan ministers, foreign missions, UN officials, and regional stakeholders demonstrate a comprehensive and forward-looking foreign policy approach. These engagements affirm what we in Somaliland have long asserted: that we are a sovereign state with the capacity, the will, and the right to engage the world on our terms.

Yet, as we celebrate this progress, it is deeply troubling to witness voices from withinโ€”some from the political opposition, others from sections of the youth and mediaโ€”that distort this success through false narratives, cynical criticism, and misinformation that conveniently aligns with external agendas aimed at diminishing our cause.

Let us be clear: this is not constructive dissent; it is disservice. No nation can advance when its own citizens become unwitting agents of those who seek to delegitimize it. Somalilandโ€™s sovereignty is not up for debate, nor should it be used as a tool in local political contestation. To do so is not only short-sighted but dangerously irresponsible.

To my fellow Somalilanders, I say this with both urgency and sincerity: national unity is not an abstract principle; it is a strategic imperative. In diplomacy, unity commands respect. In security, unity ensures resilience. In state-building, unity fuels legitimacy. The path to international recognition demands discipline, solidarity, and clarity of purpose. We cannot afford to waver. We must create red lines that safeguard our dignity, our sovereignty, and our collective future.

This is the moment for Somalilanders at home and abroad to rise above parochialism and reaffirm our shared vision. Let us reject disinformation, silence defeatism, and embrace principled nationalism. Our diplomatic victories belong to all of us; every citizen, every generation, and every believer in the Somaliland cause.

As a member of the Somaliland Intellectual Forum, I reiterate my unwavering support for the Republic of Somaliland, its legitimate leadership, and its rightful place on the world stage. I call upon all our citizens, political actors, and institutions to defend this momentum with wisdom, integrity, and unity.

The world is watching. And now, more than ever, we must speak with one voice.
