A Poet’s Curse.

Recommended Posts

BOB

They say there’s nothing worse than a poet's curse

they ask me what if poetry is indeed a farce

that is passed through a mother and daughter like a purse

if not so the world would've been full of hearse

they claim they're yet to see a widow that is mourning

like the early bird that rises before the sun every morning

they say we stare at the sky without even turning

through poetry they say we curse and commit crime

they say we walk free without ever serving time

they say poets don't often get the rub of the green

they say we sit and talk about our broken dream

poets imagine going to fishing and catching bream

poets die hoping their words society will glean

people hardly understand or respect a poet's message

they accuse the poets of failing to find life's passage

only poets hurt deeply and cry a genuine tears

while society claim it is only a crocodile tears

in poets heart we carry our deep rooted fears

we toss and turn as sleep is a battle that's fierce

poets talk about moments that define history

poets foretell those that the world will tell their story

in a poets life you have no right to be the judge or jury

respect them and you'll be safe from their curse's fury.
