Puntland Finance Minister Blames Federal Government for Masterminding Beledweyne Massacre

Garowe (PP News Desk) — The Finance Minister of Puntland State Hassan Shire Abgaal today accused the Federal Government of Somalia of masterminding Beledweyne massacre by Al-shabaab suicide bombers in which more than 48 persons were killed and 102 wounded.

“The Federal Government of Somalia and Al-shabaab are working together. There is an urgent need for regime change. Puntland is a part of the campaign to effect regime change in Mogadishu” said Hassan.

The Finance Minister of the first autonomous state of Somalia said that massacres by Al-shabaab were abomination. “During the civil war notables were spared” added Hassan in a brazen attempt to rewrite the impact of internecine civil war that preceded militant organisations such as Al-shabaab.

Puntland State is the first federal member state to make unsubstantiated claim for allegations about the Somali security forces and Al-shabaab. “Unless Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni distances himself from the Finance Minister’s outburst people will assume that besmirching the federal government institutions is a core aspect of his campaign to unseat the incumbent President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed” said a political analyst in Garowe. Last week, President Deni declared his candidacy for Villa Somalia.
