Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The Somali Federal Ministry of Heath had distanced itself from a Twitter account purporting to disseminate updates on Covid-19 infections in Somalia.

“The Ministry of Health confirms that the content associated with the Twitter page “Somalia COVID19 (@ SomaliaCovid19)”was not released by the Somalia Federal Ministry of Health, and that page is not one of the Ministry’s official social media platforms” tweeted the Ministry.

A Twitter handle named @SomaliaCovid19 jokingly tweeted that staying away from (sic)-“Twitter-pace” is highly recommended due the higher infection rate of the second wave of Covid-19.

The Twitter handle refuted by the Health Ministry is a verified but restricted account followed by, among other followers, EU Delegation in Somalia.
