Deeq A. Posted May 6, 2021 Villagers affected by floods in Middle Shabelle. Jowhar ( PP News Desk) — Reports from Jowhar, the administrative capital of Hirshabelle, indicate that Shabelle River flooding has effected two villages — Baarey and Moyko. People displaced by floods have arrived in Jowhar. In less than a year river floods cut Jowhar off from Bal’ad district twice as the main road linking the two districts turned into a mini-lake. Surrounded by water: Villagers stranded on a mound. Floods also damaged an agricultural land in Middle Shabelle. Districts through which Shebelle River meanders have no flood defences, a situation that compounds the impact of seasonal floods on the local economy. Last year boats have ferried people between Bal’ad and Jowhar after floods made the main road impassabe. Hirshabelle authorities are planning to visit Moyko and Baarey. © Puntland Post, 2021 The post Shabelle River Flooding Affect Jowhar Villages appeared first on Puntland Post.
