Somaliland: President Muse Bihi Receives UK Envoy

 

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, received a delegation from the United Kingdom, led by Ambassador Kate Foster.

 

 

The delegation which was accompanied by the head of the British Office in Somaliland, Stuart Brown, met with the President and senior cabinet officials on Monday at the Presidency in Hargeisa.

 

 

Ambassador Foster, who is making her maiden visit to Somaliland, thanked the President and the people of Somaliland for the warm welcome accorded to her and her delegation.

 

 

The President and the United Kingdom delegation discussed areas of mutual interest, including strengthening the ties between Somaliland and the UK, good governance, democratic elections and aid.

 

 

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, briefed the delegation on the history of Somaliland and it’s progress since reclaiming it’s sovereignty after the demise of the union in 1991.

 

 

The UK delegation is expected to meet with the opposition parties, civil organizations, and the National Elections Commission.
