Surge in Covid-19 Infections Prompts Preventive Measures in Puntland

Garowe (PP News Desk) — Puntland Committee for Covid-19 Prevention has issued a raft of measures to deal with the surge in Covid-19 infections in Puntland State of Somalia.

The committee urged people to do their bit to prevent Covid-19 infections and take the vaccine. Schools will be temporarily closed in line with the preventive measures. “People praying at mosques must keep two metres apart” the Committee said.

Public meetings and sessions at traditional medicine centres will temporarily stop. The Committee instructed private transport operators to ensure that passengers wear face covering.

Deaths from the second wave of Covid-19 infections have been on the rise in Puntland State. There is a shortage of oxygen used for COVID-19 patients at hospitals in Puntland.
